Once again, at Opportunities Radar, we are here with another exciting program offered by CERN, designed for international students in technical fields. The applications are open to apply for the CERN Technical Students Program for the year 2026. A fully funded program in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by CERN, one of the Top European Scientific institutions, offers an incredible opportunity to outstanding students in tech-related fields to gain hands-on experience while working on high-impact projects under the supervision of renowned experts in a unique scientific environment. The CERN Technical Students Program is inviting applications from outstanding students from CERN member & Associate member states, currently pursuing their bachelor’s or master’s degree programs in Applied Physics, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, or other related technical fields.

The objective of the CERN Technical Internship
The objective of the Technical Student Program is to provide outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in technical fields with an immersive, hands-on, practical experience while working on advanced projects in a dynamic and multicultural work environment under the supervision of world-class scientists .
The programme aims to bridge academic learning with real-life experience in areas such as applied physics, IT, Engineering, electronics, etc.
Program Duration & Location
The duration of the technical student program is 4-12 months and will be held at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland
* A monthly allowance of CHF 3,472 (Swiss Francs)
* One-time Air travel coverage to/from Geneva
* 2.5 days of paid leave are granted per month
* Visa assistance for non-European citizens
* Opportunity to work on a high-impact technical project
* Gain international exposure in a multicultural environment
* Access to CERN’s world-class facilities, such as Laboratories, computing centers, libraries, etc.

* Applied Physics
* Mechanical Engineering
* General / Civil Engineering
* IT, Mathematics & Robotics
* Material & Surface Science
* Electrical / Electronics Engineering
Eligibility Criteria:
Individuals meeting the following criteria are invited to submit the applications;
* Students currently in Bachelor’s or master’s degree programs in IT, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Robotics, Material Science, Surface Science, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical or electronic engineering, or related technical fields.
* Enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program
* Students in a PhD program are not eligible to apply
* Undergrad students have completed 18 months of their degree
* Available to work full-time in Geneva for 4-12 months
* Proficiency in English or French language
Required Documents
* An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
* Copy of recent Academic Transcript
* One Reference letter from the institute supervisor
* A certificate of degree enrollment

The application process is online via the official CERN career portal. Visit the official link and check the current openings listed by discipline. Applicants can apply for up to two positions. Follow the following steps:

* Step 2: Start with the online application, upload all the required documents
* Step 3: Review your application and submit it before November 16th, 2026
Important: Applicants are requested to draft long answers offline on Microsoft Word or Notepad, as you cannot save the application and return later to complete it.
