The Supply Chain Director, Refinish EMEA reports to the VP of Operations for the Refinish business unit and is heavily focused on execution and delivery. This is a critical leadership position that requires strong leadership and the ability to partner with leaders in the Refinish business unit, in the Supply Chain organization, and at the manufacturing sites. This role will also be matrixed to the Global Supply Chain team through the VP Supply Chain.The qualified candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with a strong work ethic who must excel at both day-to-day tactical execution as well as long-term strategic planning. This individual must be motivated by a competitive industry and be an expert at fulfilling customer requirements and maximizing cost productivity. Excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as deep, relevant experience across multiple functions/facets of a best-in-class manufacturing organization(s), will be critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership Execution:
Serving as the senior Supply Chain leader for the EMEA region within the Refinish Operations network, directly partnering with the manufacturing and commercial leaders to develop and implement strategies for strong execution at the BU level while managing risk;
Leading the SC organization within the Refinish EMEA network and investing in training and development for a team of planners, schedulers and other functional roles while serving as a point of escalation and resource for coaching and support;
Utilizing knowledge and expertise to deploy supply chain strategies and actions that address capacity issues and foster a strong partnership with the production teams in support of business goals;
Ownership of short to mid-term (1-3 years) strategy execution and operational direction in alignment with Business Unit and company goals;
Routinely interacts with senior leadership and others concerning matters of significance to the organization;
Supports business execution of new programs and initiatives that include forecast and coordination for key events, new product launches, and network redesigns;
Monitors key sales and operations planning performance indicators, cost-to-serve performance data, and coordinates cross-functional work teams to ensure strong execution;
Stays apprised of operational realities within the region that impact the flow of material and product and translates data into potential business impacts, partnering with business leaders to make necessary decisions;
Supports IBP process for the region/business and leads relevant supply reviews in IBP meetings;
Optimizes current supply chains including applying lean methodologies to improve lead time;
Accountable for improving Cost of Goods throughout the lifecycle;
Owns and manages product business continuity plans for brands to ensure a constant state of readiness for product supply;
Directs, manages and represents multi-region supply issue resolution to a successful conclusion, including demand allocation;
Participates in the global supply chain network to ensure process compliance, best practice sharing and continuous improvement.
People and Talent Management:
Provide strong leadership to the Supply Chain team in Refinish and help drive execution and build capabilities around these areas;
Lead employees using performance management processes and tools to engage and encourage contribution including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and annual performance reviews;
Engage team in career development planning and support growth to build a pipeline of future manager talent;
Foster teamwork and unity, encourage constructive disagreement, manage conflicts, and promote diversity and cohesiveness to enable the department to succeed;
Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals, delegating accountability and providing regular feedback.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field; advanced degree preferred
Certification in APICS or equivalent preferred
10 - 15 years of progressive experience in supply chain or related roles in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of experience leading managers of people
Desired Qualifications
Extensive experience independently proficient in supply chain management, lean supply chains, and data integrity
Mastery of supply strategy development, influencing, collaboration, enterprise thinking, relationship management, financial acumen, product costing, and business case development
Understanding of product development, manufacturing, and supply management and how functions contribute to Supply Chain objectives
Successful cross-functional collaboration and communication with senior leaders
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong financial and analytical skills with ability to maximize productivity and profitability
Experience gathering and reporting business data and KPIs to senior leadership
Bias for action and urgency
Ability to take calculated risks using creative thinking
Flexible and adaptable to a demanding and fast-paced work environment.
