The position is District-Wide, subject to the determination of the Superintendent. This position is b8 hours per day, 250 days per year /b. /p pJob requirements as listed below to include a minimum of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; Two years of verifiable experience in the building construction trades; Three years of verifiable work experience in the electrical field; Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, if job assignment is a specific trade requiring these skills. A written assessment with a passing score of 70% or higher is also required for this position. Please email for assistance or with questions. /p pbAPPLICATIONS DEADLINE IS MAY 5, 2026 /b /p h3JOB DESCRIPTION - GENERAL MAINTENANCE /h3 h3Basic Functions /h3 pThis position is responsible for the performance of general maintenance and the upkeep of school buildings, equipment, and grounds with some minimal requirement for new construction. /p h3Education Experience /h3 pHigh school diploma or equivalent. /p pTwo years of verifiable work experience in the building construction trades is required. Three years of verifiable work experience in a specific trade field is required, if applicable. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, if job assignment is a specific trade requiring these skills. /p h3Knowledge, Skills Abilities /h3 pThis position requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to work independently and the ability to be self-motivated. The ability to receive a passing score on a written assessment is also required. This position requires knowledge and use of hand and power tools and equipment. The position requires the ability to handle, measure, and mix chemicals. The position requires the ability to work from heights on equipment such as various step ladders, extension ladders, scaffolding, man lifts and aerial lifts as needed to perform necessary job functions. The position requires the ability to monitor readings on valves and switches on equipment related to electric, water, gas, etc. and the equipment used in the performance of maintenance duties. This position also requires the knowledge of conventional and geothermal heat pump systems, building energy management controls systems including direct digital controls, and balancing of hydronic ventilation systems. This position, if the job assignment includes sewage treatment plant maintenance and monitoring, requires certification as a Sewage Treatment Plant Operator (Class E3S). /p pThis position requires the ability to communicate with employees at all levels and maintain a positive attitude with all employees, parents, students, and other individuals utilizing District buildings. /p pThis position requires a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. /p h3Authority Responsibilities /h3 p(E) Designates Essential Functions /p ul liUses various types of maintenance and construction tools such as: torches, air hammers, impact hammers, power saws, auguring tools, power drills, grinders, and other hand tools. (E) /li liDrives trucks, backhoes, loaders, tractors, mowers, and other vehicles and equipment used in transport, soil excavation, pick-up and delivery; cindering and salting; and snow removal. (E) /li liDigs ditches and trenches, spreads topsoil and seed, spreads limestone and asphalt in repair of the roadways, landscapes and prunes shrubbery and is able to operate various tools and machinery used in performing these duties. (E) /li liPerforms preventative maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc… (E) /li liPerforms minor and major repairs of building structural and equipment issues. (E) /li liRepairs electrical equipment, clocks, lighting and control circuits (E) /li liRepair and/or replace broken windows, doors, door locksets, lockers, and installs window blinds (E) /li liMakes adjustments, repairs and replacement as necessary to restroom sanitary fixtures and appliances, sanitary sewer, grease traps, and central kitchen systems and appliances (E) /li liCompletes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures. (E) /li liMay obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed. (E) /li liAssists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures (E) /li liResponds to emergency after-hours maintenance requests and overtime as required. (E) /li liWorks with administrators and other staff to plan and complete special projects. (E) /li liPaints building interiors/exteriors. (E) /li liWorks from heights on equipment such as various step ladders, extension ladders, scaffolding, man lifts and aerial lifts. (E) /li liMaintains a clean work environment and follows housekeeping and safety including but not limited to District vehicles. (E) /li liWorks with administration and staff to complete special projects. (E) /li liDrives trucks (CDL and non CDL) and related equipment as necessary. (E) /li liOperates, troubleshoots, and repairs various items of mechanical equipment, including pneumatic and building management control devices. (E) /li liOperate a computer which controls, schedules, and monitors mechanical equipment, including pneumatic and building management control devices. (E) /li liAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics. (E) /li liAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. (E) /li liAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees. (E) /li liMaintains confidentiality of all business related information. (E) /li liPerforms other related functions as directed by the Assistant Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance Operations, Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance Operations and his/her designee. /li /ul h3Physical Requirements /h3 pVERY HEAVY- Exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. /p pPosition requires the following physical movements: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and handling objects. /p pPosition requires the ability to work from heights on equipment such as various step ladders, extension ladders, scaffolding, man lifts and aerial lifts. /p h3Auditory and Visual Requirements /h3 pWithin normal ranges with or without correction. /p h3Equipment Used /h3 pPosition requires the use construction tools such as: torches, air hammers, impact hammers, power saws, auguring tools, power drills, grinders, and other hand tools. /p pPosition requires the use of equipment utilized in landscaping. /p pPosition requires the ability to work from step ladders, extension ladders, scaffolding, man lifts and aerial lifts and vehicles. /p pPosition requires the operation of trucks, backhoes, loaders, tractors, mowers, and other vehicles and equipment used in transport, soil excavation, pick-up and delivery; cindering and salting; and snow removal. /p pPosition requires the use of computer and other office equipment. /p pPosition requires exposure to weather, contact with water and/or other liquids, exposure to chemicals, exposure to moving parts on general maintenance and construction tools. /p pThis job description is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, tasks, requirements, efforts, or working conditions associated with this position.
