Process Engineer – Pilot SAF Plant
The Process Engineer provides technical support for process design validation, commissioning, start‑up optimisation, and ongoing operations of the pilot SAF plant. This role ensures the SAF production process operates safely, efficiently, and within design performance parameters.
Key Responsibilities
* Support development and execution of the process commissioning plan, including functional tests, process simulations, and operational readiness checks.
* Monitor plant performance during start‑up, identify deviations from design, and recommend corrective actions.
* Provide process engineering guidance on heat and mass balances, catalyst performance, reaction conditions, separation processes, and utilities.
* Optimise process parameters during early operation to achieve product quality (SAF specification) and stable throughput.
* Investigate process upsets, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies; lead root‑cause analysis.
* Develop or refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operating envelopes, and process safety documentation (HAZOP actions, alarms, critical parameters).
* Collaborate with R&D teams for data collection, sampling campaigns, and performance trials specific to pilot‑scale learning.
* Support environmental compliance through emissions monitoring, waste minimisation, and energy efficiency improvements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
* Experience in process engineering within refining, petrochemicals, or biofuels (pilot plant experience advantageous).
* Strong understanding of thermodynamics, reaction chemistry, and separation processes.
* Familiarity with process modelling tools (Aspen, HYSYS, etc.).
* Strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities.
