Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
This role focuses on developing a comprehensive clinical and economic evidence strategy for the Ion Business Unit in our European target markets. The primary goal is to produce precise, quantifiable data demonstrating how the device improves patient care while reducing healthcare costs across all international markets. Success requires close collaboration with various internal teams (like Clinical Affairs, Global Access, Value and Health Economics, Product Management, Clinical Development Engineering, Medical Office, Clinical Marketing, and Commercial) and external experts to develop and execute this strategy effectively. This position is vital for generating credible evidence to prove device safety and efficacy, navigate regulatory pathways, integrate clinical and economic data, understand market dynamics, and ultimately ensure the successful adoption with appropriate reimbursement of our technologies for patients.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Develop a deep understanding of how the product features support the user and the patient by achieving better clinical outcomes at a lower cost. Requires deep clinical knowledge but also technical understanding, in addition to the core expertise of clinical Affairs, HEOR, market access etc.
2. Clinical evidence: Partner with internal teams to design, prioritize and execute European clinical evidence plans for Ion (pre- & post-market).
3. Economic value: Closely collaborate with the European Market Access teams to develop clinical and health economic evidence (including modeling) that translate clinical outcomes into economic impact.
4. Reimbursement Strategy: Collaborate on innovative payment pathways, advise on coding/tariff opportunities, and drive applications for positive funding decisions.
5. Cross-Functional Partnership: collaborate with Clinical, Regulatory, Market Access, and Commercial teams on evidence requirements, study progress and payer needs based on key product features & values.
6. External Advocacy: Build relationships with KOLs, gov’t agencies, hospital admin, and professional societies to shape evaluation criteria and adoption.
7. Metrics & Reporting: Track study milestones, budgets, and outcomes; present clear updates to leadership.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
8. Advanced clinical or scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or MSc in life sciences, health economics, or related field).
9. 5 + years leading clinical evidence and/or market access programs for medical devices in multiple EU markets.
10. Deep clinical knowledge and technical understanding, with a proven ability to connect product features to patient outcomes and economic benefits.
11. Strong project-and stakeholder management skills; comfortable juggling several studies and submissions simultaneously.
12. Excellent written & verbal communication in English; proficiency in another major European language.
13. Collaborative style with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and external experts.
14. Experience in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
15. Strong strategic and analytical skills, with a track record of translating data into actionable plans.
