About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Scientist to support one of our key client teams in Visp. This is a hands-on role ideal for professionals with a strong background in biotechnology or biochemistry who are passionate about microbial fermentation and thrive in a GMP-regulated environment. You will play a critical role in executing manufacturing campaigns, supporting innovation, and ensuring operational excellence.
Key Accountabilities and Duties
* Oversee, plan, and support execution of manufacturing campaigns in microbial fermentation
* Prepare and execute SHE, EM, operational, and cleaning risk analyses for assigned products, including implementation and control of defined measures
* Establish high-quality production documentation in a timely manner, including preparation and review of electronic batch records
* Perform manufacturing activities in compliance with cGMP guidelines, ensuring batch execution, evaluating test results, resolving issues, troubleshooting equipment, and recommending solutions
* Review production documentation and manage deviations, change requests, and CAPA implementation to uphold GMP standards
* Act as production expert in capital investment projects, contributing to the design, commissioning, and qualification of manufacturing units and equipment, including automation
* Prepare, modify, and review DeltaV recipes for equipment and facility components
* Coordinate and support Engineering and workshops for campaign preparation and change-over activities
* Lead innovation and improvement projects related to general manufacturing aspects of the production plant
* Train operators on manufacturing processes for assigned products
* Represent the production unit during customer audits and visits
* Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines
* 1–3 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 3–5 years with a Bachelor’s degree
* Strong biotechnology expertise and/or knowledge in biotechnical engineering, preferably in microbial fermentation
* Excellent understanding of GMP standards
* Familiarity with MES and DeltaV systems is a significant advantage
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and with client stakeholders
* Structured, focused, and well-organised working style
* Open-minded, motivated, and solution-oriented
