Manager Terminal Design & Operations


Main Responsibilities


The Manager Terminal Design &
Operations will have the responsibility to the Director of Terminal Design &
Operations to contribute to the successful development and implementation of Terminal
Design related projects that support TiL's
portfolio of terminals and projects; this includes business development activities,
terminal projects under (re)development and expansion projects in existing
terminals. The role is based in TiL's headquarters, while travel may be required for the effective conduct of it. The main responsibilities will include:

* Working closely with and in function of the needs of the Internal Customer (represented by Business Development, Terminal Development or Terminal Investments),
* Develop a Terminal Solution that addresses the targets set by the Internal Customer (volume, capacity, safety, productivity, emissions), including quantification of resources (area, labour, organisation) and cost effectiveness (investments, operating costs),
* Manage the effort of testing a Terminal Solution (including Static and Dynamic simulation analyses) to mitigate related risks, when the risk level requires this to be undertaken,
* Assessment of investment opportunities, including due diligence investigations; for existing terminals review of expansion proposals and operational optimisation programs,
* Develop design standards that support future-proof solutions and meet the latest standards for health, safety, emissions, efficiency,
* Develop, maintain and use of tools and protocols to standardise the delivery of the Terminal Solution; this includes
* Design Assumptions Protocol, Mode of Operation selection, Terminal Layout, Capacity Calculator, Labour Model,


Minimum Qualifications/Experience/Skill:


* Degree in logistics or supply chain management,
* Design and planning of Port infrastructure, Terminal capacity and Organisations,
* Available Technology and proven solutions including their respective pros and cons,
* 7+ years of experience in Container Terminal Operations management,
* Worked within various technical and operational disciplines to understand the business details,
* Experience with (simulation) modelling of business processes to achieve models that represent a future expectation of the subject,
* Understanding of how geographical location, main trade type, labour skills and availability, and land availability create design criteria that determine the ideal solution,
* Proven ability to work independently whilst being the leading contributor of a cross functional team, which requires a persistent approach to be successful,
* Proficient in English, both written and spoken,
* Ability to communicate and present in a concise and effective way,
* Capability to convey expert subjects to non-experts,
* Developing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders: management, internal departments, terminal or project teams, consultants,
* Ability to use Excel and PowerPoint to a proficient level; good understanding of AutoCAD would be an advantage,
* Right to work in Switzerland
