Applynow for the position of a PhD Student jointly offered by the CentreHospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) and the Swiss InnovationHub of Siemens Healthineers and you will innovate in the areas ofmotion-resolved liver imaging and interventions on low-field MRI. 4Years PhD Fellowship in Collaboration with CHUV-UNIL - On-site -(m/f/d) This PhD position plays a key role in the long-standing15-year partnership between Siemens Healthineers and the CHUV-UNILTranslational Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center. In a uniquesetting at the interface between clinical and methods research -and translation to the “real world” to benefit patients, you willexplore the potential of advanced motion sensing and compensationtechniques with focus on liver imaging and interventions onlow-field MRI. You will work onsite at our offices at the CHUV andthe EPFL Innovation Park, fully embedded in dynamic teams andwell-connected to researchers, clinicians and Healthineers. Thesetting at the CHUV and in the Swiss Innovation Hub is unique, asyou will be surrounded by passionate Healthineers, researchers,clinicians and students striving to translate innovation into theclinics, to make the latest technology available for patient care.While being exposed to these diverse inputs, you will be afull-fledged researcher, working with scientific rigor andindependence on your project; you will be able to go to conferencesand publish your findings in peer-reviewed journals. Your role: -You will explore new methods to acquire and reconstruct MR images,developing scientifically sound and innovative solutions. - Withsupport and caring supervision, you will learn to autonomouslysolve a scientific problem. - You will translate your successfuldevelopments to a first prototype stage to validate them inreal-life settings. - You will disseminate your work at scientificconferences and in leading journals of the field. - To validateyour results, you will interact with clinical and research partnerslocally, nationally, and worldwide. - You may travel bothinternationally and domestically for collaboration visits andconferences. Your expertise: - You have completed a Master Thesisin a topic related to engineering, mathematics, physics or similar.- You have experience with programming in C++ and Python or Matlab.- You are familiar with MRI (e.G., MR physics, methods for MR imagereconstruction, etc.). - You have experience with solving inverseproblems – ideally inverse problems in the context of medicalimaging or image reconstruction using both traditional and machinelearning based methods. - Your hands-on experience with MRIequipment and/or experience with the IDEA sequence programmingwould come as a plus. Your attributes and skills: - Organisingyourself and working independently comes easy to you. You also donot have problems to ask for help if you are stuck. - You work withscientific rigor and have already written a scientific text (e.G.,your Master Thesis). - You like to interact with different people,and you are motivated by being able to bridge the gaps betweenresearch, industry, and clinical medicine. - You are creative andcan overcome obstacles.
