Network Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
• Creating scripts and playbooks for automating standardized tasks and services.
• Developing and optimizing automation solutions and their processes.
• Performing reconstruction and restart procedures (disaster recovery, recovery, and restart).
• Creating solution architectures and concepts.
• Creating high-level, detailed, test, and integration concepts.
• Setting up and conducting proofs of concept (PoCs) in the lab and in integration environments.
• Conducting evaluations and homologation for the procurement of suitable network components for the three production levels: test, integration, and production (FAT/SAT tests).
• Testing software and patches for release management in the three production levels: test, integration, and production (FAT/SAT tests).
• Ensuring the availability of IT services in the test, integration, and production environments.
• Maintaining and managing the operating and management software, firmware, and drivers of the assigned IT service.
• Assessing security threats and the effectiveness of necessary security measures.
• Initiating, if necessary, appropriate measures to ensure security.
• Training employees on specialist topics.
• Advising and supporting the client's developers and users.
• Consulting on and resolving complex problems in the specialist field.
• Creating, revising, and adapting specifications, test documents, checklists, operating concepts, operating manuals, and user guides.
• Developing technical layouts and specifications as a basis for implementation.
• Planning and maintaining documentation systems such as IPAM (IP address management) and RMDB (resource management database).
• Maintaining existing system documentation.
• Rolling out systems to production.
• Creating, submitting (change management), and implementing approved change requests.
• Provide remote support for on-site installation and commissioning (installation is performed by a third party).
• Perform operational tasks for automation solutions and services to ensure the operational readiness of the Army and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS).
• Service operation of the systems.
• Testing and approval of installations (SAT tests).
• Monitoring of network management systems.
• Configuration and management of the assigned IT service.
• Review and optimization of the system performance of the assigned IT service.
• Analyze, document, and resolve events, incidents, and problems.
• Lead task forces and working groups to resolve incidents and problems.
• Analyze the existing environment for potential improvements and develop and implement improvement concepts.
• Work during maintenance windows and on weekends.
• On-call availability.
• First and second level support for IT infrastructure services.
• Ensuring service transition and service operation for the benefit of the operational organization, which cannot be covered by internal staff.
Work Location
This requires work at customer premises in Bern (main), Dübendorf.
Remote work is not possible.
