Education and Certification Required: University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline AWS DevOps Engineer and/or AWS Certified Solution Architect.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration.
Skills Set Excellent knowledge of administration, configuration, and integration of Cloud infrastructure and services and, in particular, for the AWS Cloud. Excellent knowledge of managing application lifecycle, application deployment, online application support, troubleshooting application integration or performance related issues. Good understanding of AWS system and application architecture. Good analytical skills and the ability to document complex ICT platforms and processes. Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate with technical teams, managing in a cross-cultural environment. Knowledge of System administration and middleware configuration. Knowledge of ITIL Service Management methodology. Knowledge of Networking and Information Security concepts. Experience 10+ years of professional experience. Strong professional work experience in managing system application infrastructure, cloud platforms, and application integration in a hybrid dc cloud deployment. Strong experience in migrating services and applications across different platforms. Strong experience in utilizing AWS management and system tools and services. Strong experience in managing Identity and Access management systems including LDAP backends. Strong Linux Systems administration experience and managing Linux server hosted applications. Experience with automation and CI/CD processes. Experience in supporting production application environments. Experience in the architecture implementation of cloud hosted applications. Good understanding of application development process, as well as interpreting application errors and troubleshooting online application issued. Description Context: ICTD is looking for a DevOps Engineer to participate in the modernization of ORG'S systems and hence in the process of moving applications and services from current datacentre hosting to AWS. This includes any dependent core-service (like Login authentication service, LDAP backends, and others). The candidate should have strong Linux system admin and AWS cloud technical background, as well as experience in the migration of services to cloud, support and operations of cloud system environments and cloud hosted applications. An ability to work with application owners and development teams for the support and troubleshooting of online applications and services. Objective of the assignment: The DevOps Engineer will work within ORG'S ICTD system support team to support the migration and maintenance of applications and services to AWS cloud. The candidate will interact with technical and application development teams, service owners, and other support staff to support the migration of applications and services to AWS, including development of Infrastructure as a Code, and automated deployments via CI/CD. The candidate will participate in the activities of ICTD Cloud Applications technical support team to provide efficient DevOps support, application operations, and smooth application lifecycle maintenance.. Tasks: a. Organize the migration of applications and services to dedicated AWS infrastructure respecting established change-management processes, implementing IaC as applicable. b. Carry out the technical integration, and operations of a large production cloud application infrastructure environment, following established application management practices and change management process. c. Act as a second level application support coordinating the support of online applications – analyze detected application issues, follow up established issue escalation process. Assist development teams in resolving application issues. d. Monitor application logs, and automated application alerts to ensure online applications are working as expected. Apply documented work around procedure in case application functions are degraded. Escalate to technical owners or respective development teams any application errors thar require further investigation or application code fix. e. Implement required application operational procedures, application updates, verify backup and patching requirements. f. Actively participate in legacy application migrations to Cloud infrastructure. g. Liaise with ICTD CI/CD team for proper application deployment via application pipelines, helping with integration and deployment troubleshooting. h. Assist the Cloud platform team with any infrastructure maintenance activities.
