About the role
As a Senior Dairy Analyst, you will deliver timely, actionable insights to support procurement and manage commodity price risk. You will analyze global dairy markets, forecast trends, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define optimal sourcing strategies. This role combines market research, data analysis, and strategic communication to anticipate market shifts and guide decision-making across dairy supply chain globally
Key responsibilities include
1. Analyze global dairy supply/demand, understand farmers and industry behavior, supply chains constrain, production costs, and consumption trends
2. Monitor macroeconomic, political, FX, and speculative developments
3. Track weather patterns and their impact on markets
4. Study futures markets, spreads, basis, and arbitrage opportunities
5. Develop mid/long-term crop and price forecasts while identifying risks and opportunities
6. Source data, build and maintain price/statistical databases
7. Automate analysis and visualization (Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau)
8. Advise sourcing teams and customers through regular updates and presentations
9. Support sales teams in market discussions and strategy alignment
10. Maintain relationships with industry players (advisors, suppliers, producers, farmers…)
11. Select and attend dairy industry conferences and workshops worldwide
12. Contribute to sustainability metrics and procurement strategies
13. Analyze internal performance vs. market benchmarks
14. Select and test innovative approaches
15. Identify exposures and hedge using futures/options/OTC instruments
16. Manage broker relationships and contracts
17. Assess hedge effectiveness and impact on margins
18. Maintain a derivatives portfolio as part of market strategy execution
About you
19. Master’s/Bachelor’s in Agronomy, Economics, Finance, or related field
20. 5–10 years in market analysis or purchasing (trading/food industry preferred)
21. Diploma in Statistics, Actuarial Science, or AI for time series forecasting is a strong asset
22. Strong analytical skills and dairy supply chain knowledge
23. Experience in developing dashboard with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI)
24. Familiarity with Python, R, or other statistical tools
25. Fluent in English; while German, French, or Chinese are a plus
26. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
27. Curious, autonomous, proactive, resilient, with a “can-do” attitude and strong team spirit
28. Travel required 10-20%
