Buyer (Capex) | Operational Procurement Support Role
A global life sciences organisation is seeking a Buyer (Capex) to support the execution of capital expenditure (Capex) procurement activities within assigned projects and operational buying scopes. This role focuses on operational procurement execution, supplier coordination, and compliance with internal procurement processes, while working under the guidance of a Project Buyer, Project Procurement Lead, or Lead Buyer.
In this position, you will support end-to-end operational buying activities for Capex projects, from requisition through purchase order creation to close-out. You will prepare and issue purchase orders in SAP in alignment with approved sourcing decisions, track order confirmations, deliveries, and invoice alignment, and ensure transparent and auditable sourcing documentation.
You will assist in RFQ processes including data collection, bid comparison, and documentation, while supporting senior buyers in supplier communication related to pricing, delivery, and documentation. The role acts as procurement contact for defined work packages within Capex projects and coordinates with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Finance to support schedule adherence and cost tracking at order level.
Additionally, you will communicate with suppliers on order execution topics, ensure adherence to procurement policies and compliance standards including GMP and EHS requirements, and maintain accurate procurement documentation and records.
Scope & Authority
* Executes procurement activities within defined scope and under guidance
* Does not independently define sourcing strategies
* Does not lead supplier negotiations or contract strategy
* Does not carry full project procurement accountability
* Decision authority remains with Project Buyer / Lead Buyer
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
* Initial experience in procurement, supply chain, or operational buying preferred
* Exposure to technical, engineering, or Capex environments is an advantage
* Strong Capex exposure required
* Structured and detail-oriented working style
* Ability to work in project environments with multiple stakeholders
* Basic commercial and contractual understanding
* Strong learning mindset and willingness to develop procurement capabilities
* SAP experience preferred
* German strongly preferred for local stakeholder interaction
Preferred Requirements
* Experience working within technical or engineering-driven project environments
* Experience supporting RFQ processes and sourcing documentation
* Ability to coordinate across Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Finance stakeholders
* Experience working in regulated environments (e.g. GMP, EHS compliance)
