Director of Apparel and Accessories Merchandising
As Director of Apparel and Accessories Merchandising, you will ensure the right products reach the right channels, tiers, accounts, and stores with optimal timing and pricing to support On’s brand vision, profitability, and consumer experience. You will lead global merchandising strategy across apparel, accessories, and footwear, leveraging customer insights, advanced forecasting tools, and data analysis to shape short‑term actions and long‑term strategies. This role demands an independent leader who embeds merchandising deeply within On’s culture.
Your mission
* Define and execute global apparel and accessories merchandising strategies across all channels – DTC and wholesale – aligned with growth targets.
* Build and lead a high‑performing global merchandising team, fostering consumer obsession, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Define global channel assortments, including core collections, commercial product pushes, price points, tiering, and channel focus on target consumers and communities.
* Optimize monthly product flow across stores and online, balancing seasonality, carry‑overs, and newness.
* Lead merchandise financial planning with Planning and Finance teams to drive SKU efficiency, inventory optimization, and category growth worldwide.
* Develop pricing architecture and optimize full‑price sales through competitor mapping and price adjustments with the pricing team.
* Collaborate with Marketing and Creative on cohesive seasonal storytelling and execution across all consumer touchpoints.
* Partner with Visual Merchandising to translate assortment strategies into DTC and wholesale SIS, creating inspiring commercial solutions.
* Work closely with Footwear merchandising to deliver a holistic head‑to‑toe consumer experience, aligning assortments and seasonal narratives across categories.
* Align with Regional Merchandising and Product Strategy to influence upstream product creation, embedding the commercial voice in global line architecture.
Your story
* 10+ years of merchandising experience, with a strong focus on premium sports and/or fashion/luxury.
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in international apparel merchandising (EMEA, North America, Asia‑Pacific).
* Profound knowledge of the apparel industry, including key accounts and consumer profiles.
* Higher education degree in business, economics, or a related field.
* Deep understanding of the global competitive sportswear landscape and ability to challenge and disrupt it.
* Strong track record of delivering business results in merchandising, retail, product management, and business analytics.
* Experienced people manager who inspires the merchandising and larger On team to support On’s vision.
* Skilled at developing global distribution strategies while keeping regional consumers, accounts, and sales teams front of mind.
* Deep understanding of Visual Merchandising and knack for creating inspiring assortments.
* Demonstrated experience working independently through strategic planning and execution.
* Experienced in executing global strategies at regional levels.
* Ability to analyze and interpret retail math and KPIs across retail, wholesale, and e‑commerce channels.
* Excellent communicator and presenter to diverse internal and external audiences.
* Business fluency in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
