Role Overview
This challenging role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for our mission, including advising on positioning and identifying opportunities to communicate.
* Define, review and implement the communications strategy, advising on positioning and identifying opportunities to communicate
* Handle local and international media requests, and proactively contact local media to promote our organization
* Maintain close contact with key local media, organizing events such as press conferences and press briefings, and facilitate media and photographic visits to project sites for both local and international journalists and photographers
* Monitor and report on local media, flagging significant articles, trends, news or reports of importance for our organization
* Produce strategic reports on the local media landscape, including key media, audience members, political affiliation, ownership, freedom of speech, and use of social media
* Act as a spokesperson during emergencies to alleviate high media pressure
* Manage and monitor our social media network accounts in country, producing and disseminating content, moderation, etc.
* Produce and/or coordinate the production of communication tools and products, such as PRs, leaflets, brochures, posters, radio spots, articles, photos, videos, etc.
* Train relevant members of project teams on how to communicate externally
* Identify human resources needs for communications, hiring where relevant, and manage, coach and develop direct reports
