Overview
Celanese Engineered Materials (EM) business is seeking a dynamic and technically strong Sustainability & LCA Specialist to enable EM’s sustainable growth commitments. As a member of the EM sustainability team, this role will lead product and business sustainability measurement, deliver transparency on the sustainability of our products via Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), and advise business teams on all LCA-related topics from sourcing to sales.
Responsibilities :
You will be involved in the following tasks :
1. Complete environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) modeling for EM’s products, processes, and competitive alternatives, focusing on product carbon footprints. Create LCA models using software like SimaPro or Sphera LFE.
2. Manage multiple concurrent consulting projects related to LCA, business sustainability, and corporate sustainability strategy.
3. Write ISO 14040/44 & ISO 14067 compliant reports, document project work, and ensure projects adhere to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
4. Analyze manufacturing process data, including raw materials, energy, water, waste, and emissions.
5. Prepare and present project results using PowerPoint or other formats.
6. Collaborate with sustainability portfolio leaders to provide timely data for product lines and translate LCA/footprint results into actionable strategies for business teams.
7. Support marketing in formulating sustainable product claims and assist customers with LCA expertise.
8. Complete other sustainability-related projects as assigned to support EM’s sustainability business plan.
9. Work with third-party LCA or sustainability consultants as needed.
10. Engage in external forums to advance LCA methodologies and databases.
11. Develop deep knowledge of LCA/PCF data for EM's products and stay informed of LCA trends in Celanese’s markets and customers.
12. Establish relationships with business leaders, supply chain, R&D, manufacturing, sales, and marketing to drive LCA initiatives.
Qualifications :
What you will bring to the team :
* Minimum 2 years of LCA experience, proficient with LCA software like Gabi; SimaPro experience is a plus.
* Knowledge of ISO 14044/40, 14067, and the Together for Sustainability (TfS) guidelines.
* Experience managing small to medium-sized projects.
* Familiarity with chemical products and processes (preferred).
* Strong quantitative and technical skills.
* High aptitude for conceptual and analytical thinking coupled with a drive for business results.
* Passion for sustainability.
* Ability to translate technical findings into business insights.
* Customer-focused approach.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage uncertainty.
