Summer worker - computer technicians

The positions will be available from approximately June 10, 2026 through August 21, 2026. Wages will be $13.00 per hour, the current schedule for substitute Information Systems Technician. Summer staff will work at least four (4), seven (7) hour days per week (or the equivalent hours) and will be provided a half-hour duty free unpaid lunch.


Functions

* Follows all laws, board policies, regulations, rules and procedures, and complies with the instructions and/or directives from his/her supervisor.
* Works in various school settings and as appropriate, works the additional hours necessary to complete tasks as assigned.
* Establishes an effective working rapport with all other staff and maintains a positive relationship with the school district's internal and external publics.
* Performs information technology equipment maintenance, modifications, installation, and, appropriate repair.
* Works cooperatively with hardware and software vendors to install hardware and software.
* Works with applicable staff to ensure software is installed legally.
* Resolves hardware and software problems.
* Provides technical support for staff and students regarding the care and use of computers, computer networks, and related equipment.
* Assists the Technology Coordinator in working with other school districts, universities, businesses, and other appropriate organizations in sharing appropriate information and/or data.
* Works with all applicable staff to maintain a current hardware and network inventory.
* Facilitates rapid hardware deployment through meticulous asset unboxing, site preparation, and post-installation waste management.
* Provides entry‑level computer use training on an as‑needed basis.
* As directed, assists staff in the selection and purchase of computer hardware and software to ensure appropriate compatibility and use to meet instructional and administrative demands.
* Provides technical support for maintaining software.
* As directed, assists staff to design, install, and implement networks and modify existing networks, including resolving any related hardware and/or software problems.
* Maintains and supports networks throughout the school district as necessary, performing such tasks as, but not limited to, adding and deleting users, providing appropriate training, scheduling and performing maintenance, administering print services, troubleshooting problems, overseeing security systems, ensuring software compatibility, properly installing software to ensure correct functioning, etc.
* Assists in the coordination of backup data, including individual user and all network data.
* Monitors the use of technology resources.
* Supports the school district telephone system.
* As directed, maintains contemporary professional awareness and promotes personal professional growth through participation in professional development activities.
* As applicable, assists in developing those areas of the school district's budget pertinent to his/her assignment.
* As authorized, works the additional hours necessary to ensure the functions of the position are effectively administered.
* Performs other duties and related tasks as assigned by the Technology Coordinator.


Qualifications

* Has the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
* Must have the ability to drive a vehicle and possesses a valid driver's license and must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple school buildings and district sites throughout the day.
* Possesses necessary technology‑related knowledge and individual computer/technology‑related skills.
* Has experience installing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
* Has experience installing and maintaining networks and communication systems.
* Has a working knowledge of Windows and Macintosh software.
* Has a fundamental knowledge of various network operating systems.
* Possesses effective communication, judgmental, planning, organizational, problem‑solving, and human relations skills.
* Must possess and display the ability to follow directives and adhere to the established chain of command.
* Must be dependable, punctual, flexible, appropriately attired, neat in appearance, and able to manage time appropriately.
* Must maintain a professional demeanor and image.
* Must be courteous to students, staff, and the general public.
* Must possess adequate interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work independently and/or on a team.
* Provides evidence of professional growth and development by keeping current in the field.


Physical Requirements

* Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
* Must be able to move about the work area to access materials, tools, file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
* Must be able to operate equipment relative to his/her position and perform simple service or repair.
* Must be able to travel between school district buildings and other job‑related locations as necessary.
* Must be able to withstand changes in environmental conditions inside and outside of the work facility, and to adapt to these changes.
* Must be available to answer calls after hours when necessary.
* Must be able to access all work areas and locations including, but not limited to, lifts, ladders, confined spaces such as crawl spaces, manholes, and pipe chases.
* Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift as required.
* Must have the ability to climb, bend, stoop or reach above shoulder level.
* Must possess acceptable vision and hearing.
* Must be able to distinguish the colors of gray, brown, black, red, orange, green and blue to safely accomplish wiring and wiring‑related tasks.
