Senior Technical Sub-Project Manager for HVAC & Black Utilities
The Senior Technical Sub-Project Manager for HVAC & Black Utilities provides discipline, focused technical leadership and accountability for HVAC & Black Utilities in the delivery of capital projects and engineering services to support PT, CMOs, and Affiliates. This includes projects that are single and multidisciplinary in nature. This position reports to the Head of Building and Facility Engineering.
Responsibilities
* Technical leadership with end-to-end ownership of engineering, design, and commissioning of complex HVAC and utility systems in large CAPEX projects
* Acting as System Owner and technical authority across the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design through qualification and handover
* Ensuring full compliance with Roche Guidelines, EU/Swiss regulatory standards, Health Authority Requirements, and Sustainability Standards
* Managing sub-project budgets and schedules while defining priorities and driving decision‑making processes across disciplines
* Providing full technical ownership of HVAC systems for classified cleanrooms and laboratories, as well as central utility generation systems
* Leading all project phases including feasibility, conceptual design, basic and detailed engineering, and construction
* Authoring and reviewing URS, FRS, P&IDs, technical specifications, and bid packages for synthetic molecule manufacturing equipment
* Coordinating cross‑functional interfaces across Process Engineering, Automation, Electrical, and Quality Assurance teams
* Providing engineering leadership during installation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and IQ/OQ execution to ensure inspection readiness

You are a collaborative leader who excels in providing clear guidance to sub‑project teams while maintaining a focus on target functionality, quality, and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Building Services, Chemical, or Energy Engineering
* 7 years or more of experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Life Science industry
* Extensive experience with cleanroom HVAC design, utility generation, and GMP validation compliance
* Strong knowledge of FDA cGMP regulations, EU GMP Annex 1, and ISPE/ASHRAE guidelines
* Proficient knowledge of English and German (written & spoken) is a must
* Ability to handle significant travel (50% or more) and potential international project assignments of 1 to 3 years
