As a part of VSL’s repair & preservation business unit, you will be leading our inspection and non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities for bridges and other structures, and you will help us to deploy innovative and data‑driven solutions on our customers’ projects. Your primary mission will be to provide technical support, project management and quality assurance for delivery of structural inspection and monitoring projects worldwide and to standardise inspection protocols using latest digital solutions.

Responsibilities
Providing support to projects worldwide on NDT, inspection and assessment with an initial focus on concrete (bridges, tanks, buildings and others) and high‑tensile steel (post‑tensioning, ground‑anchor and cable stays).
Validation and standardising of NDT and inspection protocols making use of latest digital processes.
Post‑processing of NDT data sets to deliver engineering reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
Project support and occasional field missions to prepare, launch, audit and review inspection tasks worldwide; regular performance of field inspection works as NDT expert.
Driving innovation by initiating and managing innovation and development projects combining inspection technologies, robotic means of access and data science to generate differentiating offers for our clients.
Training of colleagues in inspection protocols, NDT equipment and use of software and continuous improvement of VSL’s in‑house knowledge management system and database for the inspection, repair and preservation of structures in close co‑operation with in‑house experts.
Management and maintenance of VSL’s in‑house fleet of NDT equipment and inspection robots.
Animation of VSL’s inspection and NDT community worldwide to foster exchange and collaboration.
Animation of VSL’s technology partner networks with external providers, start‑ups, research institutions and Group internal partners.
Upstream marketing and promotion of VSL’s expertise in the field of inspection incl. contribution to digital marketing, publications, conferences etc.
Qualifications
MSc Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Geophysics or similar.
Preferably minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Excellent analytical skills to identify patterns, defects and pathologies on structures.
Understanding of diagnostics of concrete defects and use of NDT or a keen interest to develop associated skills through training.
Strong communications skills to explain and express your work to engineers, site staff and clients with different backgrounds.
First experiences in project management or a keen interest to develop associated skills.
Enthusiasm for developing novel integrated solutions and for managing innovation projects.
A mindset of innovation and early adoption of new digital technologies.
Our working language is English; German, French or Spanish skills are a plus.
