AXA XL Reinsurance is among the world's leading reinsurers, offering a comprehensive product range across Property, Casualty and Specialty reinsurance. In Reinsurance we are looking for a person to join a small and very successful tema in the area of Casualty.
Over the years the team has successfully created a significant and profitable book of business for the Reinsurance arm of AXA XL. A team of 9 people (including the actuaries) are responsible for maintaining and further growing this book and we need an additional workforce to further embed our relevance to AXA XL's client base. The main task is to support the underwriting of this book of European casualty business and to underpin the growth of the overall global casualty portfolio. The role holder will gain the necessary technical knowledge plus training on our pricing tools, perform challenging and meaningful tasks and develop valuable business, negotiation and sales skills for a rewarding career in reinsurance. We offer an excellent environment in a very professional team, and involvement in many different transactions that we analyse on a worldwide base. The team is centralised in Zurich and travels continually which gives exposure to diverse countries, cultures and languages.
What you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
* Learn how to analyse and prepare client exposure data, prepare pricing tools, provide and structure the necessary information for peer reviews and committee referrals in order to support the underwriting process
* Learn how to perform analysis support for submissions, endorsements and other incoming documents based on underwriting rules and guidelines
* Contribute directly to process and task efficiency, profitability and accuracy of the underwriting process and the service delivery to our clients and broking partners.
* Develop analytical skills to collect, analyse and interpret large data sets, which may involve seeking out additional data/information from external sources.
* Ad hoc research and project work to provide the underwriters with information that enables them to identify additional potential client targets, make informed underwriting decisions & work alongside underwriters when analysing the business
* Ensure that all information is entered on the respective underwriting, pricing and data storage systems and is kept up-to-date and accurate. Support the production of full and accurate required data reportings
* Facilitate accurate record keeping and continuously enhance data quality and control of Underwriting data
* Participate in the preparation of quotations for renewals and new business
* Participate in client and broker meetings with the view to helping the underwriting team to manage the existing portfolio of business. Contribute to good relations with the broker network
* You will be expected to undertake professional studies where these are not already held commensurate with the roles and responsibilities.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills And Abilities
* Minimum of Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in a subject with high numerical content, such as Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Sciences
* Having some experience in an Insurance or Reinsurance related role is a plus
* Fluency in English, any additional European language is an advantage
* High level of numeracy, with demonstrable evidence of manipulating data accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points
* Excellent knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
* A personal drive for excellence and a meticulous eye for detail, identifying inconsistencies and inaccuracies in data entry and outputs
* A desire to be helpful, responsive and able to take the initiative, demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude

* Able to organise self with effective time management skills, including prioritisation of tasks and deadlines
* Comfortable taking ownership for own work whilst working effectively within a team
* Display a resilient and adaptable style, with an ability to adapt to changing conditions and priorities
