Laboratory Manager Role
Coordinate laboratory activities and manage the availability and utilization of equipment.
Establish planning and supervise resource availability to ensure the proper execution of R&D projects and technical support for the company.
Assess and develop novel laboratory characterization techniques to address new challenges faced by CEMEX.
Ensure the application of safety measures related to laboratory management.
Additional Information
* A relocation bonus may be provided.
* For applicants outside of the European Union or Switzerland, CEMEX must process a work permit, which takes approximately six months.
Main Responsibilities
* Plan laboratory activities and resources based on the current R&D project portfolio, technical support needs, and operational activities.
* Establish and adapt work plans for laboratory team members and equipment according to priorities set by current requests and top management.
* Create a network with key research centers, universities, and institutes to identify new research opportunities and technological developments.
* Conduct training sessions for new employees, technicians, and interns to ensure compliance with H&S regulations and CEMEX procedures.
* Implement and develop advanced methods and laboratory techniques for studies and evaluations.
* Plan and perform market benchmarks to monitor competition and emerging technologies.
* Participate in internal and external committees to influence norms and standards in the building materials industry.
* Ensure the availability and optimal operation of laboratory equipment.
Work in a multidisciplinary environment, managing multiple tasks and projects, and communicating across departments.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in Chemistry or Building/Construction.
* Master’s Degree in Chemistry is preferred.
* Proficiency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role.
* At least 5 years of experience in project leadership and technical support, preferably with management experience.
Internal and External Relations
Internal: Regional Laboratory Coordinators, Product Development Managers.
External: External laboratories, universities, certification bodies, partners, and industry associations.
