Student Development and Engagement Coordinator

Responsibilities :
Design and implement initiatives that promote personal and professional growth
Mentor students in launching projects that enhance engagement with GIHE experiences
Organize and lead workshops and training sessions where applicable
Supervise major large scale student events, including for example welcome, induction and orientation events, Netconference and graduation dinners
Identify and promote external competitions to support extracurricular development
Work closely with GIHE departments on initiatives related to enhancing student engagement
Collaborate with the GIHE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee to ensure representation and inclusivity
Partner with external organizations, alumni, and industry professionals to enhance student development opportunities
Oversee the SGA and its committees, ensuring alignment with institutional objectives
Recruit, train and mentor the SGA and its committees
Supervise activities organized by the SGA and its committees
Develop and implement strategies to amplify student voice in institutional decision-making
Work closely with Head of Health and Wellbeing on wellbeing campaigns and initiatives
Manage student development services communication channels promoting departmental activities and engagement opportunities (social media, website, digital signage, emailing)
Adopt and implement effective communication strategies and initiatives which enhance student participation and engagement in GIHE activities and experiences
Monitor and evaluate engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional goals
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and best practices
Assist in the management of budgets for the SGA and respective student committees
Recruit, develop and manage the Student Development Services Intern
Profile and experiences :
A bachelor's degree in education, student development, counselling, or a related field is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva and website builders (Wix)
Comfortable with the use of technology and student management / learning systems
Prior experience in student engagement, communication or events management
A valid driving license is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French (any additional language is a plus)
Strong ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
Passion for student engagement and development
Ability to address student challenges proactively and effectively
Ability to adjust to a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends where required
Willingness to travel across multiple campuses or external venues as needed
