General Director of Health Job Description The cantonal health authority, the General Directorate of Health (DGS), is responsible for ensuring the coverage of health needs in Vaud. As the General Director, you will lead the conduct of its missions with the DGS management, ensuring performance and implementing effective and efficient processes. Aware of current and future public health challenges, you will define the vision and strategy of the Canton that you propose to the political authority. You will ensure the implementation of the objectives of the currently valid plan with all partners in the X system, while guaranteeing the quality, efficiency, and compliance of public services. Finally, you will represent the DGS to institutional and political bodies and actively maintain relationships with public and private stakeholders in the health sector. Responsibilities Advise the head of department through analyses and sharing insights. Define and carry the vision of the public health policy in agreement with the head of department and in collaboration with key stakeholders of the X system at the cantonal, inter-cantonal, and federal levels. Develop, implement, and update the plan while anticipating future challenges and considering available resources. Lead the implementation by coordinating all the activities of the DGS, including those of the cantonal doctor’s office, and closely work with all partner institutions, notably CHUV and Unisanté. Manage human, financial, and material resources allocated to the DGS in collaboration with the management team. Supervise complex dossiers and interdisciplinary projects carried out across the entire territory. Promote the DGS to institutional partners, health sector stakeholders, and, when necessary, before broader institutional entities. Profile Master's degree in a field related to the position or a specialized diploma in public health and recognized experience in leading and managing a health service or institution. Excellent knowledge of the Swiss and Vaud X systems as well as the functioning of cantonal and federal institutions. Proven leadership and management skills, a global vision and a sense of human factors, interpersonal skills, and a sense of responsibility and accountability. Political sensitivity and interest in cross-sectional approaches to evolving in a highly complex environment and interacting with a multitude of stakeholders.
