The Position
We are looking for an experienced in-house lawyer to join the Near Patient Care (NPC) Legal Team. You will be part of a global network of legal professionals and support various aspects of product strategy, development, and manufacturing for Roche Diagnostics. Your focus will be on our diagnostic portfolio for decentralised healthcare settings across the continuum of care – from the home, pharmacy, and physician's office to the emergency department and hospital.
You will provide legal services to key areas of our business, such as Partnering/Business Development, R&D, Global Marketing and Commercialization, Product Lifecycle Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. This will include support for one or more leadership teams responsible for particular product areas within the business.
To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to assess and anticipate legal and business risks associated with complex projects and innovative diagnostic products. You need to be able to communicate well-reasoned recommendations to senior executives and business stakeholders clearly and concisely. You should be comfortable with calibrating and advising on acceptable levels of risk commensurate with broader business objectives. You will be expected to structure, draft, and negotiate a wide range of agreements and develop and recommend innovative solutions to complex legal and business issues.
The opportunity
* Support complex, international business projects employing considerable independent legal judgment, experience, and analysis.
* Provide strategic assistance and guidance on a variety of legal matters.
* Lead the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of a diverse portfolio of complex international commercial agreements.
* Manage disputes and litigation arising from your assigned business areas.
* Interact with colleagues across Roche to determine compliant yet practical legal responses and planning to meet business needs.
* Develop and present legal training on various topics of relevance to and in support of business needs.
Who you are
* You have a Master's degree in Law (MLaw, ), with admission to the bar (Swiss, German, UK, or U.S. admission preferred).
* You bring at least 5 years of post-bar professional experience in a multinational company or respected law firm, preferably within the life sciences industry (diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology).
* Your Legal Expertise spans across Contracts, Competition Law, IT/software law (including AI), Data Privacy, and Litigation/Dispute Resolution.
* You are fluent in written and spoken English; German is a plus.
* You bring a strong team orientation and a purpose-driven approach. Hands-on mentality and pragmatism, understanding the core of the issue and focusing on the bigger picture without compromising detail.
* You have a passion for working with diverse backgrounds and cultures and exceptional ability to communicate clearly, convincingly, and diplomatically.
* International academic or work experience is an important plus.
