General Description
Located on the Zug Campus, Primary School, the Team Leader is responsible for leading their grade level/ subject Team. Decisions and initiatives of the Team Leader are informed by and aligned to the mission and vision. The team leader reports directly to the Principal and Assistant Principals. The team leader is predominantly guided by the Leadership Competencies Domain C: Pedagogical → the ability to improve learning through collaborative cultures.

The team leader maintains a student-centered approach. They embody honesty, integrity, and compassion, coupled with a collaborative mindset. They prioritize respectful and open communication, listening to understand, and fostering trust among all team members. Team leaders cultivate a sense of community and psychological safety by paying attention to what is happening internally (self), externally (others), and relationally. The ideal candidate should be comfortable navigating conflict on a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to constructively resolve disagreements.
Areas of Responsibility
Leadership
Model a distributive leadership style
Support members of the team, especially those who are new to the grade level
Lead and coordinate communication, resources, and special events
Be a positive role model for the team, motivated, innovative, and willing to accept challenges positively.
Nurture the wellbeing of the team through routines such as check-ins and time for reflection at each meeting
Create a brave space for your team, embracing vulnerability, perspective-taking, leaning into fear, examining intentions, and mindfulness
Partner with the Primary Leadership Team to foster a cohesive team environment built on trust, collaboration, and respect, encouraging unity in achieving common goals
Work hand in hand with the Primary School Leadership Team to ensure integrity is maintained in all areas, fostering a healthy professional environment where honesty and accountability are valued and upheld
Teaching and Learning
Support and implement key school strategies and objectives
Ensure that the team is living the PYP framework and that it is informing teaching and learning
Lead and organise regular team planning and GLSR (Grade Level Student Review) meetings
Regularly use student data to inform planning and consistent practices across the team and school
Ensure regular communication with single-subject teachers, including leading cross-curricular planning meetings at the beginning and end of each unit of inquiry
Create conditions for ongoing peer-to-peer professional feedback
Engage in weekly collaborative team leader meetings, serving as a representative of the team and then informing them of any necessary actions or pertinent information
Coordinate the publishing of articles and resources about the grade level/subject in the school newsletter, website, and elsewhere as appropriate
Model our commitment to being a community of learners by bringing current research, artifacts, and tools to team discussion.
Required and Preferred Qualifications

The candidate should hold a recognised teaching qualification or certification.
Candidates with knowledge of the PYP curriculum framework and experience teaching within a pedagogy of inquiry-based learning, are preferred.
Compensation
A yearly stipend of 6000 CHF is offered to team leads.
This position is for a period of 3 years.
