Summary/Objective
The Indirect Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the Indirect Tax functions of the department. This shall include responsibilities such as property tax maintenance, supporting manager in all tax audits, researching tax application and customer billing disputes as relates to construction activity and assistance in state income tax. This position is non-exempt and reports directly to the Indirect Tax Manager.
Core Job Duties
Lead in Business Personal Property tax compliance including maintaining the current location list, bill payments/notice resolution/audits which includes working with 3rd party filing preparer.
Lead in resolving and researching billing issues with internal departments
Analyze and identify sales and use tax exposure and present solutions to minimize assessments
Lead in data and documentation requests for all indirect tax audits as requested by the Manager and work with internal departments to ensure deadlines are met set forth by the Manager and the auditor.
Lead in maintaining Avalara software with a focus on researching and applying tax codes and assisting in testing when new billing options are implemented
Assist Manager with State income tax notices and preparing payments/vouchers
Ensure compliance with the state sales & use tax laws and minimize assessments from sales & use tax audits which will include analysis and presentation of these findings
Lead in due diligence and integration of newly acquired businesses as needed
Assist the finance team with FA maintenance and Operating Leases

Requirements
Qualifications and Required Experience
Must have experience with tax research and taxability using Avalara.
Familiarity with Accounting and Financial Systems (Microsoft Dynamics, Sales Force/ServiceMax)
Industry knowledge of construction and maintenance services
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
Two years of strong sales and use tax compliance and experience with audit either leading or assisting
Experience in Microsoft Office applications, especially in Excel
Analytics skill- ability to review and analyze large volume of data
Attention to detail and reconciliation experience
Supervisory Or Managerial Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

The work is performed in various locations, including warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, refineries and hospital settings. Employees may work with co-workers’ side-by-side with a moderate level of activity being performed. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Salary Range
The pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Employees may be eligible for additional incentive pay.
