Project description
Our Client is undertaking the most significant digital transformation, where a cornerstone is the delivery of consistent, accurate, and trusted data into the future SAP S/4 HANA-based ecosystem and associated technology stack. The Data Migration Lead is responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end data migration strategy that ensures the successful transition from legacy systems to the new "New World" architecture. The role safeguards data integrity, business continuity, and compliance across all phases of migration, from object scoping to ETL cycles, validation, and cutover readiness. This is a critical leadership role ensuring that data is migrated accurately, completely, and on time to support the digital transformation pilot go‑live and the multiyear European rollout. The size of the project team is above 200 people.
Responsibilities
Data Migration Strategy & Governance – Develop, own, and maintain the F4F Data Migration Strategy, aligned with F4F timelines and rollout approach.
Define migration principles including scope, approach, quality thresholds, reconciliation rules, and "Day 1" data readiness.
Establish the data migration governance model (decision rights, approval gates, defect management, risk management).
Evaluate if/what Data Migration tools are required for the F4F Program.
Planning & Execution of Data Migration Cycles – Build and manage detailed migration plans aligned with SIT, UAT, Cutover Rehearsals, and Pilot timelines.
Oversee all ETL cycles (extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, and validation) ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Ensure that Catalogue Creation, classifications, and mapping rules are aligned with MDM and business process definitions (per Cutover Readiness criteria).
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Enterprise Architecture, SAP CoE, E2E Architects, F4F Transition & Cutover Lead, F4F testing workstream lead, and System Integrator teams to ensure technical readiness.
Work closely with Business Owners, SMEs, and Process Owners.
Serve as the single point of contact for all data migration topics across the programme.
Data Quality, Validation & Issue Resolution – Establish data quality KPIs, dashboards, and controls to monitor progress throughout migration cycles.
Implement reconciliation and exception handling procedures to ensure accuracy across all master and transactional objects.
Conduct defect triage and coordinate resolution across business and technical teams.
Cutover Alignment & Go‑Live Readiness – Ensure data migration activities are fully integrated into the overall Transition & Cutover plan.
Confirm data readiness gates for SIT, UAT, Cutover Rehearsals, and Go‑Live (e.g., environment readiness, trial loads, mock conversions).
Support "Day 1" data scenarios and post go‑live hyper‑care processes.
Risk Management – Identify risks linked to data quality, legacy complexity, dependencies, and resource constraints.
Drive mitigation plans (e.g., freeze windows, additional dry runs, enhanced cleansing cycles).
Report progress, risks, and decisions to F4F LT.
Skills
Must have
10+ years in large‑scale SAP/ERP data migration programmes
SAP S/4HANA
Solid expertise in ETL methodologies, data modelling, transformation logic, data quality frameworks, cleansing, and reconciliation
Strong understanding of core master and transactional data domains (Article Master, Vendors, POs, Inventory, Pricing, financial objects)
Deep experience working across complex multisystem landscapes, including legacy systems, mapping layers, and SAP
Experience in retail, consumer goods, or multi‑country operational environments
Excellent cross‑functional leadership and stakeholder alignment skills (Business Owners, MDM, EA, SAP CoE, System Integrators)
Cross functional leadership: Leads and aligns Business Owners, MDM, EA, SAP CoE, and System Integrators to drive coherent migration decisions.
Analytical problem solving: Resolves data dependencies, quality issues, and design constraints with strong analytical capability
Clear communication: Translates complex technical migration topics into simple, business‑friendly language for all stakeholders
Structured and detail oriented: Brings strong organisation, structure, and attention to detail across all migration cycles and deliverables
Planning & prioritisation: Manages multiple parallel migration cycles under tight timelines with strong planning discipline
Stakeholder confidence: Operates collaboratively and confidently with senior stakeholders, building trust and alignment across domains
Resilience & ambiguity handling: Remains proactive, solution‑driven, and composed in high‑pressure, ambiguous environments
Quality focus: Ensures data accuracy, completeness, and readiness through rigorous validation and quality controls
Issue anticipation: Identifies risks early, analyses root causes, and drives mitigation plans with urgency and ownership
Decision clarity: Synthesises complex multidomain inputs into concise, actionable insights and clear decisions
