Internship – Advanced Technology / Rapid Prototyping
6 months
We are looking for a curious, hands-on intern to support our Advanced Technology team in rapid prototyping with 3D-printed moulds used on injection and compression moulding machines.
Main Tasks
1. Plan and run simple parameter studies for rapid prototyping ( resin type vs. mould temperature, curing temperature, exposure time).
2. Investigate the influence of rubber viscosity and process conditions on filling behaviour and part quality.
3. Prepare and compare reinforced resins with different reinforcement types ( glass fibre, carbon fibre, fillers) in standard test geometries.
4. Help define test concepts for rapid prototyping parts (what to measure, how to compare, acceptance criteria).
5. Perform basic part testing: visual and dimensional checks, simple mechanical/functional tests, behaviour under different temperatures and pressures.
6. Document results in a clear, structured way (Excel overviews, short test summaries, photos).
7. Assist in simple “material design” tasks, combining resins and reinforcements, preparing small batches and comparing handling and performance.
Profile
8. Student in a technical field ( mechanical engineering, materials science, plastics, production, mechatronics)
9. Strong interest in materials, processes and parameter effects
10. Enjoys hands-on lab/workshop work and structured testing
11. Basic Excel skills and willingness to document experiments carefully
12. Curious, reliable, and open to learning new technologies (SLA/SLP, moulding, testing)
13. At the time of the internship, the intern must be enrolled at an university in Switzerland
We Offer
14. Practical insight into rapid prototyping, materials and process development
15. Own small studies within a guided framework (parameters, resins, reinforcements)
16. Close collaboration with experienced engineers and technicians
17. Modern lab and prototyping environment in an international company
