Join Hitachi Energy as an Engineer in Failure Analysis, responsible for conducting complex analyses to determine failure mechanisms in semiconductors, supporting R&D & Product Engineering teams, and improving laboratory techniques. This role offers a limited contract until the end of November 2026.
Responsibilities
 * Analyse failed devices from internal tests to improve yield and reliability.
 * Perform in-depth investigations of customer returns using REM/EDX, profilometers, electrical measurement techniques, spreading resistance profiling (SRP), etc.
 * Support troubleshooting and improvement teams within production and R&D.
 * Improve electrical and physical analysis techniques as well as chemical preparation processes.
Your background
 * Master’s degree in natural sciences (TU, FH, ETH, or similar).
 * Preferably ≥3 years of lab experience, but highly motivated graduates with a completed PhD thesis are also welcome.
 * Knowledge of standard failure analysis methods such as SEM/EDX, optical microscopy, hot‑spot analysis, electrical characterization, SAM and spreading resistance profiling.
 * Experience in failure analysis of semiconductor chips and components (including packaging and materials) is desirable.
 * Business fluent in English.
