Engineering Specialists – Chemical & Biotech Manufacturing

Department: Manufacturing Support
Positions Available: 2 (Chemical & Biotech specialization)
We are looking for two experienced, solution-driven, and collaborative Engineering Specialists to strengthen the Manufacturing Support team of one of our partners in Canton Fribourg, Switzerland. These roles focus on supporting the chemical and biotech production facilities through engineering excellence, project leadership, and operational support.
Your Role
As an Engineering Specialist, you will manage the technical lifecycle of equipment modifications and new installations, ensuring operational reliability and regulatory compliance. Your responsibilities will include delivering CAPEX and smaller-scale projects, executing technical changes, and providing hands-on support from design to commissioning and handover.
Depending on your profile (Chemical or Biotech), you will oversee relevant skid-based production systems, support ATEX compliance (for chemical profiles), and contribute to HSE initiatives and cGMP-driven operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead or contribute to multiple technical projects, including planning, dimensioning, equipment design, and on-site realization.
* Manage contractor coordination, construction oversight, system commissioning, and handover to operations.
* Act as a technical expert during engineering or quality investigations.
* Collaborate with stakeholders including production, maintenance, quality, and project teams to deliver efficient and safe solutions.
* Ensure compliance with internal HSE policies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
* Education: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or industrial production environments.
Expertise in one of the following:
* Chemical: Deep knowledge of chemical production systems, ATEX regulations, and related safety standards.
* Biotech: In-depth understanding of biotech manufacturing processes, equipment, and cleanroom standards.
Technical Skills:
* In-depth knowledge of chemical and pharma production equipment and skids, mechanical design expertise (pump dimensioning, piping specification, etc).
* Several positive experiences in project execution, contractor and construction management and commissioning activities.
* In-depth knowledge of cGMPs and regulations linked with pharmaceutical manufacturing.
* Project Execution: Proven ability in CAPEX project management, contractor supervision, and multidisciplinary coordination.
* Soft Skills: Strong communication, situational analysis, and leadership capabilities.
* Languages: Fluency in French and strong proficiency in English (spoken and written).
