As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next-generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity, and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers the latest safety standards, as well as improved performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).
Your responsibilities
* Lead the development and design of structural rotorcraft components (composite and metallic materials).
* Liaise with multidisciplinary stakeholders including analysis teams, manufacturing, and external sub-contractors.
* Collaborate actively in the development project, sharing knowledge and information inside and outside the department.
* Ensure continuous compliance with aviation regulations, safety standards, internal quality processes, and configuration management rules.
Tasks
* Prepare and maintain specifications and requirements for the defined system.
* Lead the development and design according to system requirements, specifications, and safety classifications.
* Design considering factors such as cost, manufacturing constraints, design feasibility, weight control, and interfaces.
* Perform technical checks of deliverables (such as drawings).
Your qualification & experience
* University degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years relevant aeronautical engineering experience.
* Excellent design and 3D surfacing skills (preferably NX).
* Good working knowledge of engineering detailed drawings.
* Competencies in composite and metallic design and manufacturing standards.
* Proactive with a high sense of ownership.
* Ability to work under pressure with a good sense of urgency.
* Strong interpersonal and coordination skills for interfacing with stakeholders and external partners.
* Very hands-on approach.
* English written and spoken at minimum B2 level.
