Role Overview
We seek a passionate innovator to lead the implementation and commercialization of key material innovations for a rapidly growing footwear brand. Collaborating with innovation and inline teams, you'll explore, research, and validate material concepts, managing their full rollout for mass production. This role is ideal for a forward-thinker eager to explore new manufacturing methods, enhance performance, and advance sustainability in sports footwear.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commercialization of innovative materials, ensuring a balance of performance, sustainability, and manufacturability.
* Drive performance enhancements by exploring new manufacturing techniques to improve durability, weight, and responsiveness.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate and transition material concepts into scalable production.
* Leverage knowledge of T2 and T3 supply chains to optimize supply chain efficiencies and sustainability.
* Champion sustainable material solutions, reducing environmental impact while maintaining high performance standards.
* Influence and inspire teams through expertise, ensuring successful materials innovation at scale.
* Manage pathways for the commercialization of new materials, working closely with sourcing and supplier teams.
* Align material innovations with brand strategy, sustainability goals, and long-term growth.
Minimum Qualifications
* At least 8 years of experience in the athletic footwear industry, with expertise in materials, development, and sourcing.
* Deep knowledge of footwear materials, development processes, and commercialization.
* Experience with innovation pipelines and cross-sector engagement.
* Proven leadership through influence, with the ability to inspire and grow teams.
* Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to change.
* Track record of successful footwear product launches.
* Knowledge of physical property guidelines, fit testing, and sport performance demands.
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently under deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills in English; German or other languages are a plus.
Location & Travel
Based in Zurich, Switzerland, with 3-5 trips annually to Asia.
