Beschreibung

At HAYA Therapeutics, we are revolutionizing RNA-guided genome-targeting therapies to treat fibrosis, heart failure, and other serious chronic diseases associated with aging. Our innovative platform leverages long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), key regulators within the “dark matter” of the genome, to develop first-in-class, highly specific therapies that reprogram disease-driving cell states into a healthy and resilient state, tackling disease at its roots.

Following the successful close of our Series A financing, HAYA is well-positioned to advance its pipeline and execute key scientific and operational milestones, including the advancement of its lead program, HTX-001, toward the clinic for the treatment of non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (nHCM).

In recognition of our scientific innovation and potential global impact, HAYA has been named one of the 100 early-stage companies selected for the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Technology Pioneers.

As a fast-growing biotech, we offer a science-driven, entrepreneurial environment where experienced consultants can have a direct and visible impact on infrastructure, scientific velocity, and execution quality.

Position Summary

HAYA is seeking a senior-level Scientific Computing / SysOps / DevOps consultant to bridge the gap between IT operations and scientific discovery.

In this role, you will design, deploy, and operate the infrastructure that powers HAYA’s Data Science and R&D teams. You will take ownership of a distributed scientific computing environment spanning on-premise servers, AWS (and S3-compatible) infrastructure, and Google Cloud, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.

We are looking for a hands-on infrastructure, data, and software engineer who combines deep technical fluency with pragmatic judgment, someone who focuses on solving real problems for scientists without introducing unnecessary complexity.

What’s in it for you?

This is a rare opportunity to own and shape scientific computing systems at a cutting‑edge biotech at a critical growth stage. You will have the independence to design infrastructure and processes that are lean, scalable, and meaningful to the teams they support.

You will work closely with Data Science, Research, and corporate stakeholders, explore and implement modern technologies (cloud, automation, containers), and see the direct impact of your decisions on scientific progress.

This engagement is well-suited for an experienced consultant who enjoys building robust systems, improving reliability, and becoming a trusted technical partner for critical infrastructure decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & High-Performance Computing (HPC)

* Platform Architecture: Design and manage the evolution of HAYA’s scientific computing environment, orchestrating a hybrid architecture combining on-premise HPC servers with cloud-native solutions (AWS / GCP).
* Compute Scalability: Manage and optimize on-premise and cloud-based CPU/GPU systems to support cost‑effective execution of computational biology workloads.
* Hybrid Storage Strategy: Architect and operate storage solutions integrating on-premise distributed servers with cloud object storage (AWS S3 or compatible) to support large-scale scientific datasets.
* Data Monitoring: Implement monitoring and metrics to track R&D data growth and enable informed capacity and cost planning.

2. DevOps & Data Science Enablement

* Environment Standardization: Build and maintain containerized development environments (Docker, Singularity) to eliminate reproducibility and configuration issues.
* CI/CD & MLOps: Maintain and evolve GitLab CI/CD pipelines, supporting the transition of data science code from experimentation to production with reproducibility and version control.
* Automation & IaC: Replace manual operational tasks with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Ansible) and Python/Bash automation.

3. Security, Resilience & Compliance

* Data Protection: Architect and operate robust backup and disaster recovery strategies tailored to large scientific datasets, with clear recovery objectives.
* Security & IAM: Manage identity and access controls following least-privilege principles, securing research data while preserving scientific velocity.
* System Resilience: Proactively monitor system health (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch) and anticipate failures or bottlenecks before they impact research timelines.

4. Operations & Strategy

* Vendor & Cost Management: Manage cloud and HPC vendors, monitor compute spend, and implement cost‑optimization strategies (spot instances, lifecycle policies).
* Documentation: Maintain clear technical documentation covering architecture, disaster recovery, and operational procedures.

Success Indicators

* Operational Resilience: High uptime for critical research systems; backups regularly tested and recoverable.
* Scientist Velocity: Data Scientists spend minimal time on environment setup and troubleshooting.
* Scalability: Infrastructure absorbs peaks in computational demand without manual intervention.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Technical Skills

* Advanced knowledge of AWS and GCP in hybrid environments (S3, EC2, IAM, Batch).
* Experience managing GPU-accelerated infrastructure (NVIDIA / CUDA).
* Proficiency with GitLab (administration and CI/CD), containerization, and IaC tools.
* Strong Python and Bash scripting skills.

Experience & Mindset

* 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, or Scientific Computing.
* Ability to understand and support data science and computational biology workflows.
* Strong security, networking, and data-governance awareness.
* Clear communicator, able to explain infrastructure trade-offs to non-specialists.
* Autonomous, pragmatic, and delivery-focused.

Core Values

At HAYA, how we work is as important as what we do. We value creativity, integrity, teamwork, and adaptability. We are looking for consultants who bring strong technical expertise and thrive in fast-moving, collaborative, and mission‑driven environments.
