Associate Research Manager – Moldova (Chisinau)
IMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland. We are looking for an Associate Research Manager to lead the research team in Moldova. The role is 6‑month, starting in February 2026, full‑time and based in Chisinau.
Overview
As part of the REACH Initiative, you will manage research for disaster risk reduction and long‑term development responses. The position reports to the IMPACT Country Coordinator and to ACTED’s Country Director for administrative and security matters.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate mission management with the Country Coordinator (risk assessment, capacity, work‑planning).
* Act as Officer in Charge of the Moldova mission during the Country Coordinator’s leave.
* Directly manage a team of three national staff—recruit, train, and develop performance plans.
* Plan and oversee research cycles, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and REACH guidelines.
* Write and produce timely, accurate, analytically rigorous outputs; engage stakeholders in assessment design.
* Monitor project expenditure and ensure timely project completion.
* Advocate methodological improvements across REACH units.
* Manage grant components: conceptualise projects, draft proposals, report, and monitor M&E.
* Represent IMPACT in external engagements with data actors, humanitarian cluster coordinators, development actors, donors, authorities, and partners.
* Support strategy development and dissemination to strengthen research impact.
Requirements
* At least 4 years of relevant humanitarian experience (program, evaluation, assessments).
* Strong quantitative research design, data collection, and analysis skills.
* Understanding of the aid system and research community; experience in humanitarian coordination forums preferred.
* Demonstrated staff management skills, including remote management.
* Prior experience in Moldova or the region preferred.
* Excellent communication and drafting skills.
* Ability to work independently in a cross‑cultural environment.
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of R, SPSS, STATA or other statistical software an asset.
* Fluency in English; proficiency in Romanian and/or Russian is an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
* Monthly salary CHF 2 820–2 880 (before tax) plus CHF 300 living allowance.
