Role Overview
The Global COO is responsible for providing executive leadership and operational oversight across all regions of the business. This role ensures the successful delivery of construction projects, operational consistency, commercial performance, resource planning, and long-term organizational growth. The Global COO will drive operational excellence, set global performance standards, and deliver sustainable profitability across diverse international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and execute the global operational strategy in alignment with the Group CEO and Board of Directors
* Implement scalable operational structures, systems, and controls to support business growth across multiple geographies
* Lead global transformation programs focused on cost optimization, operational efficiency, and digital innovation
Operational Oversight
* Oversee day-to-day operations of all regional business units, ensuring consistent project delivery performance and adherence to company standards
* Establish global operating policies, procedures, KPIs, and reporting frameworks
* Ensure projects meet contractual, financial, safety, quality, sustainability, and program requirements
* Drive continuous improvement using data-driven decision-making and industry best practices
Commercial & Financial Management
* Collaborate closely with the CFO and commercial leadership teams to maximize operational profitability and safeguard commercial risk
* Oversee project performance, forecasts, claims strategies, and contractual compliance
* Optimise supply chain performance, procurement strategies, and cost-management frameworks
Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance
* Champion a world-class safety culture across all global operations
* Ensure compliance with international regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client expectations
* Promote a strong ethos of quality assurance, governance, and operational discipline
People & Culture Leadership
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global operations leadership team
* Create workforce planning strategies to ensure capability, capacity, and succession planning across all regions
* Foster a collaborative, high-achievement culture built around safety, accountability, innovation, and client focus
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Maintain strong relationships with major clients, joint venture partners, consultants, and key supply chain stakeholders
* Represent the company in strategic negotiations, public forums, and board-level industry engagements
Qualifications & Skills
* 10+ years of senior leadership experience in a major construction, engineering, or infrastructure organization
* Proven success managing complex multi-billion project portfolios across multiple international markets
* Strong track record in operational optimization, digital transformation, and commercial performance improvement
* Experience operating at board level or executive committee level
* Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline
* MBA or executive leadership qualification (preferred)
* Chartered or professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, RICS, PMP, etc.) desirable
