About us
We invite applications for a postdoc position on climate adaptation to extreme events in the research teams of Olivia Martius (University of Bern) and Karin Ingold (University of Bern). The position will be hosted at the Mobiliar Lab for Natural Risks at the University of Bern and you will be part of the NCCR CLIM+ programme and the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research. The NCCR CLIM+ supports Switzerland in the transformation towards a cli-mate-resilient society.
Together with stakeholders, the interdisciplinary NCCR CLIM+ research community tack-les unexplored solution spaces to the climate crisis and develops a blueprint for actionable climate research worldwide. NCCR CLIM+ broadly communicates and shares knowledge and trains a new generation of experts with the necessary domain and transdisciplinary knowledge.
Job description In the NCCR CLIM+ programme, storylines are used to work inter- and transdisciplinarily to develop adaptation solutions to climate extremes. While individual storylines target adaptation to a specific type of extreme event, it is important to ensure the exchange of inter- and transdisciplinary learnings across storylines. We seek a re-searcher to support the coordination and integration across several storylines (drought impacts on agriculture, transboundary water conflicts, positive social tipping points).
You will be the physical science expert in a team with social scientists and transdisciplinary research experts and you will support the choice of methods for sci-ence and transdisciplinary integration.
You will be part of the NCCR CLIM+ programme and benefit from its extensive exchange and training in inter- and transdisciplinary research. You will publish your results in scientific journals and present them at national and international conferences.
