Superconducting Systems Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to contribute to the development of high-temperature superconducting systems. As part of our team, you will be responsible for designing and analysing mechanical structures for these systems.
Your primary focus will be on modelling and evaluating equipment under various loading conditions, including static, dynamic, and vibration loading at room temperature and cryogenic temperatures. You will also apply numerical modelling in solid mechanics to predict and simulate the behaviour of these systems under different electro-mechanical conditions.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will work closely with our team to construct, assemble, test, and install high-temperature superconducting cables, devices, and systems. Your strong communication skills will enable you to effectively document and report on design, manufacturing, and test results.
To succeed in this role, you will need a Master's degree or PhD in applied physics, mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience in simulation and analysis of mechanical systems, as well as knowledge of material properties at cryogenic temperatures, is essential. Design and analysis of mechanical structures, assembly of mechanical structures and equipment, and knowledge of manufacturing methods and work preparation are also required.
Apart from your technical qualifications, we expect you to possess excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to produce workable and timely solutions that meet requirements. Strong teamwork and communication skills are also necessary, as you will be working closely with colleagues to achieve common goals.

Please note that this is a limited-duration contract (5 years) subject to certain conditions.
