Overview
Staff Software Engineer, Search Ads at Google. This role involves developing next-generation technologies that handle information at massive scale, with opportunities to work across areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile.
Responsibilities
* Define the criteria for expanded user query and ad relations.
* Work with Google Research and DeepMind to identify AI/ML innovations to model the expanded relations beyond semantics.
* Influence and shape the expanded match technology goals and plans; drive implementation progress through fast exploration cycles.
* Lead model training, evaluation, and deployment, optionally leading a small group of junior software engineers (SWE).
* Explore new architectures, augment training data, improve evaluation methods and feedback signals, and identify headroom opportunities.
Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
* 8 years of experience in software development.
* 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
* Experience with C++, machine learning, data analysis.
* Experience in Python programming.
Preferred qualifications
* Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
* 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
* 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
* Experience with Natural Language Processing.
