Development Engineer Mechanical Integrity

Position
Join the Turbomachinery Integration department within gas turbine business in Baden, Switzerland and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ansaldo Energia products.
* Provide mechanical integrity solutions and lifetime predictions of gas turbine structural parts, rotor and casings
* Iterate closely with other functional gas turbine teams like Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer, Clearance, Design, Manufacturing and Lifetime Extension to ensure parts meet static and dynamic criteria
* Issue and check technical reports and prepare design review material
* Capture lessons learned and ensure the integration of field feedback into the design
* Support manufacturing process development by providing technical expertise
* Issue nonconformity resolutions with Quality and design teams
* Conduct failure analysis and provide technical feedback to field operation findings
* Issue Lifetime Extension specifications
* Prepare and support material, part, spin pit and engine tests and validation.
Requirements
Your profile
* Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably dealing with rotor structural assessments
* Experience in state-of-the-art 3D finite element modelling (ideally ANSYS)
* Sound knowledge of thermal/structural mechanics, rotor and structural dynamics and physics of materials
* Understanding of gas and steam turbine fundamentals
* Fluency in English, Italian &/or German language skills are a plus
* Open-minded, analytical and target-oriented team player able to work in a multicultural environment
* Creative, thorough and independent with good communication skills
* Availability to travel 15% of the time, worldwide.
