He / she reports to VP of Accounting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, financial profitability analysis, and other special projects as assigned.This role is based in our Operational Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESExternal auditKey stakeholder for the audit review (quarterly, interim and year end)Liaising with our auditors on PBC lists and queriesPreparing analytical review analysis on results for the auditorsReviewing the workpapers and support prepared by the teamPreparing accounting memos for external audit purposes under IFRSInternal auditLiaising with internal auditorsAnalyzing control risk areas and proposing possible solutionsImplementing agreed process improvements to better support the control environmentBudgetingLiaising with the Group FP&A and Financial reporting teams, and the Business, in regards budgeting and forecastingFinancial analysisHelping to prepare monthly group reporting packs to send to Group Finance, and also helping to prepare qualitative and quantitative narratives to support the mgmt. reporting processes.Month endStandard month end process such as preparation of GL reconciliations, posting of journals in high risk areas (debt, impairment etc.)Responsible for IFRS review and memo writing for complex accounting issues, such as debt financing, ship capitalization and other IFRS matters.Review of work performed by Junior and Senior AccountantsAnalyzing and critically evaluating month end / quarter end results to pick up possible errors in cut off or calculations before closing to reduce group reporting errors.Process ImprovementsReview of current processes and proposing possible ways to automate or gain efficiencies in current practices (e.g. Excel macros, Power BI reports etc.)Ad hoc projectsManaging and aiding with ad hoc projects such as accounting for new loans / financing, accounting for newly delivered ships, ERP transformation projects, group financing projects with the Group and Corporate finance teams, acquisitions and disposals, Senior Management requests, tax reviews etc.TeamLeading, supporting and mentoring the financial accounting team as it growsKEY QUALIFICATIONSStrong understanding of IFRS and accounting principles5-10 years accounting / finance experience, a number of which are in a supervisory role.Excellent English skills, both verbally and writtenHighly detail-oriented and organized in workAbility to meet assigned deadlinesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectivesProficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with MS Dynamics would be an assetAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and resultsEDUCATIONQualified accountant is a must (CPA, ACCA or equivalent)COMMUNITY & CULTUREFast-growing and dynamic environment, a modern workspace, flexible working hours
