Overview
The UK Mission to the UN in Geneva represents the interests and policies of the UK at many international organisations in Geneva and is recruiting a highly motivated part-time IT Support Officer (ITSO) who can take on a range of tasks across the UK Mission in Geneva, alongside the lead ITSO. The role will be a job share at a rate of 40%, and the designated working days for this position will be Thursday and Friday.
The ideal candidate will have excellent administrative skills and be up to date with modern IT platforms and software, with a particular focus on Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, and Apple IOS. They would also be very customer focussed and be highly motivated to support the wider team with both Administrative and IT issues.
The jobholder should have a can-do attitude and be oriented towards providing a supportive and friendly, first point of contact service to colleagues of all levels. In addition to this, you should be well organised and able to assist where needed with the planning and set-up of meetings, visits & events at the UK Mission.
We are looking for a highly professional individual, flexible, well organised and adept at juggling competing demands, as well as being able to manage customer and central IT department expectations.

Main responsibilities
* Act as first point of contact for users on IT and be responsible for advice on use of systems, help users to get the most out of the hardware and software provided, and escalate through the correct channels where necessary;
* Familiarise yourself with the FCDO IT platform known as OSPREY; training for use will be provided and regularly updated;
* Request changes to user accounts (for Osprey and standalone network) e.g. requesting new account creations from the Service Now desk;
* Use administration tools to grant access to TEAMS shared areas and add members to TEAMS sites, manage shared mailboxes and distribution lists;
* Be responsible for IT Security Procedures including SOPS management;
* Provide efficient and user-friendly Business Continuity Plan/Crisis Preparedness – IT Contingency solutions;
* Manage distribution lists and maintain up-to-date inventories for all IT equipment;
* Management of consumables e.g., toner cartridges in conjunction with the FM manager;
* Review, procure, install and maintain Osprey and non-Osprey hardware equipment (e.g., desktops, laptops, printers, servers (depending on clearance) and iPhones);
* Install and maintain non-Osprey hardware/peripherals and support cabling, switches, hubs etc;
* Support in managing the ICT budget;
* Perform ad-hoc duties as required by the role, occasionally involving travel or out of regular working hours.
Ideal candidate
* Excellent command of spoken and written English (minimum CEFR C1 level);
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in customer service/help desk/customer care;
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience related to IT;
* Calm, resilient problem-solver with the ability to troubleshoot challenges under pressure and deliver results;
* Knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Windows 10, Office 365, and MS Teams;
* Excellent communication and organisational skills;
* Ability to manage work with limited supervision and to meet deadlines;
* Ability to write messages clearly and respond to instruction;
* Ability to work closely with other team members and teams.
Nice to have
* Experience in hardware support would also be preferable;
* Written and spoken French (CEFR level B1 or equivalent).
