Summer School: Wildcat Summer Adventures Substitute/Guest Teacher


Position Type & Dates

Summer School Teaching – Dates: June 8, 2026 – July 2, 2026; Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.


Description

Enables each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.


Qualifications

* Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator's or Substitute License registered in Lake County.
* Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
* Experience: Preferred – Classroom teaching experience.


Essential Performance Responsibilities

1. Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival.
2. Reviews all plans and schedules with the principal, department head, or team leader for the teaching day.
3. Maintains established routines and procedures of the assigned classroom.
4. Takes over the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher's Guide.
5. Consults appropriately with leadership for any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Guide.
6. Assumes responsibility for supervising pupil behavior during class, lunch, and recess.
7. Reports in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
8. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
9. Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the School Principal.

* Instruction: Communicates clearly; uses questioning and discussion techniques; engages students; provides feedback; demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
* Professional Responsibility: Reflects on teaching; maintains accurate records; communicates professionally; contributes to school and district; grows professionally; demonstrates professionalism.


Technical Proficiency

* Competent with digital environments: iPads, Chromebooks, databases, spreadsheets, publishing software, Microsoft Office, Google applications.

* Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills; empathetic; humanistic; open‑minded; team‑oriented.

Terms of Employment

June 8, 2026 - July 2, 2026; Monday thru Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Salary Range

$130 per day.
