Description
Establishes, promotes, and assures quality on all projects and work performed by department staff; assigns department personnel to project teams; signs-off on department fees for proposals and projects, monitors staffing needs to ensure projects are completed on schedule; follows up on department-related construction issues to resolve problems and concerns; and, supervises/develops engineers, senior engineers, designers, senior designers, and CAD personnel within the department.

Our Utilities division is a talented team of experts working together to provide solutions that are vital to energizing our future. We provide full-service electrical, civil, and structural engineering services to support electric and gas utilities nationwide. We're also fortunate to support wind farms and renewables; transmissions systems; and university and industrial facilities.
Who You Are
* You have a bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering and 15+ years of protection & control or power systems engineering experience, including 4+ years of supervisory or responsible-in-charge leadership. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; a PMP is preferred.
* You have advanced expertise in P&C engineering for high-voltage substations and can apply utility industry standards such as NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI, and utility-specific P&C philosophies.
* You have deep knowledge of substation protection schemes such as transformer, bus, line, breaker failure; and also creating or overseeing relay settings, protection coordination studies, and fault analysis.
* You have advanced knowledge of industry standard practices, and developing and reviewing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, and control wiring diagrams.
* You're proficient in Microsoft Office and system modeling using tools such as ASPEN, CAPE, SEL, or ETAP.
* You're a strong communicator and mentor with excellent team-building, technical leadership, and coordination skills who enjoys helping engineers grow in both technical depth and systems thinking.
What You'll Do
* You'll manage department resources and serve as a mentor to staff. You'll also lead substation design on large/complex projects and perform quality reviews.
* You'll review/supervise calculations, drawings, specifications, and perform condition assessments and feasibility studies.
* You'll manage substation group utilization and effective multiplier.
* You'll assist in proposal preparation and marketing efforts, and attend client meetings.
* You have excellent organization skills and can prioritize work and priorities for a team.
* You'll coordinate and conduct professional training and development of staff, evaluate work performance, and conduct department meetings.
* You'll assist the substation department manager in recruitment of new employees, and in business development efforts.
