Your Role
As a Senior Avaloq Software Engineer – Payments, you play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing payment workflows and integrations within our Avaloq core banking platform. You will drive innovation in the payments domain by enhancing system performance, reliability, and compliance with international standards, ensuring seamless transaction processing across multiple payment channels.
Your Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain payment functionalities within the Avaloq core banking system
* Develop and support interfaces between Avaloq and external payment infrastructures (e.g. Finastra, anti-fraud systems, clearing networks)
* Customize and extend Avaloq modules for payment systems such as SIC, SEPA, SWIFT (MT/MX formats, ISO 20022), TARGET2 and TIPS
* Ensure adherence to technical and compliance standards throughout the payment transaction lifecycle
* Provide expert-level support for production issues, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
* Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, operations teams, and external partners to ensure smooth integration and process alignment
* Participate in testing campaigns, release management, and production rollouts
* Drive continuous improvement by applying modern technologies (containerization, microservices, cloud-native solutions) to enhance performance and scalability
* Contribute to the evolution of Avaloq best practices, coding standards, and technical documentation
Your Profile
* Higher education (University / FH) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field
* Avaloq Certified Professional (ACP) qualification is an advantage
* At least 5 years of experience in Avaloq development, ideally in the payments domain
* Solid understanding of payment systems, formats, and standards (SIC, SEPA, SWIFT, ISO 20022, TARGET2)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and proactive approach
* Ability to manage priorities and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
* Hands-on mindset with a high level of accountability and ownership
* Excellent command of English; German fluency is a plus
