How you can make a difference:
The Group Team Leader GL Accounting is responsible for owning the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the general ledger and group consolidation processes for multiple Swiss and international entities. This role combines operational leadership with technical accounting expertise, including oversight of financial closings, group reporting, and statutory compliance. The position leads a team of accountants and plays a key role in driving continuous improvement in closing processes, systems, and controls, ensuring high-quality financial information aligned with both statutory and corporate requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a team of GL accountants, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and fostering continuous professional development
Own and ensure high-quality execution of all general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions, with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
Take full responsibility for the monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring efficient, well-controlled, and timely execution across all entities
Manage and oversee the group consolidation process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of consolidated financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards
Review and validate financial statements and consolidation outputs, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and group accounting policies
Establish, monitor, and continuously enhance reconciliation and closing standards, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved proactively
Act as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, ensuring high-quality documentation, smooth audit processes, and timely resolution of audit findings
Collaborate closely with local accounting teams, tax, controlling, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve complex accounting topics
Analyze financial data and consolidation results to identify risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement, and implement sustainable solutions
Drive and lead initiatives to improve closing efficiency, automation, data quality, and internal controls, including active involvement in ERP and finance system enhancements
That's what you bring along:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
7+ years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting, including experience with group consolidation, preferably in a multinational environment
Proven leadership experience (minimum 3-4 years) managing and developing accounting teams
Strong knowledge of local and international GAAP (e.g., US GAAP, Swiss GAAP FER)
Solid understanding of consolidation principles, intercompany eliminations, and group reporting processes
Experience with ERP and consolidation systems (e.g., Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Tagetik or similar)
Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong analytical capabilities
Structured, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels
Fluent German and English communication skills (written and spoken) are required
