Head of EHS – Advanced Synthesis (80–100%) (m/f/d)
Location: Visp, Switzerland (relocation support available)
A global life sciences organization is seeking a visionary Head of EHS – Advanced Synthesis to lead the strategic integration of Environment, Health & Safety across a growing, international business platform. This senior leadership role will drive a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and oversee a team of EHS and process safety specialists.
This position is ideal for an experienced leader with a strong background in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about elevating global safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary EHS leader for the Visp site and provide expert support to an additional site in Nansha, China.
* Develop and execute EHS strategies that support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
* Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals, ensuring consistency and alignment of safety programs across locations.
* Represent EHS at the senior leadership level and strengthen the organization’s overall safety culture.
* Oversee incident investigations, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure effective communication and collaboration between site-level, platform-level, and corporate EHS teams.
Requirements
* University degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is an advantage.
* Significant leadership experience in EHS within the chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
* Strong expertise in process safety, explosion protection, and industrial risk management.
* Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive change in a matrixed environment.
* Strategic mindset paired with excellent communication skills.
* Proficiency in English; German is a strong asset.
