Construction & Facilities Buyer
We are searching for an experienced Construction & Facilities Buyer at our MSC Geneva facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
To support its strategic expansion and growth, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is seeking an experienced and proactive Construction & Facilities Buyer. This position, based in MSC Geneva (GVA) Headquarters, will report directly into the Corporate Procurement office. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all construction and facilities procurement needs are met efficiently, cost-effectively, respecting the processes and procedures and in alignment with MSC’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end procurement processes for construction and facilities projects, including sourcing, tendering, negotiation, contract award, and supplier management.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and cost optimization.
* Support project teams by identifying and selecting qualified suppliers, evaluating proposals, and ensuring compliance with MSC’s procurement policies and standards.
* Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers, benchmark costs, and monitor industry trends relevant to construction and facilities management.
* Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels in line with project requirements and corporate guidelines.
* Monitor supplier performance, resolve supply chain issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure timely delivery of materials and services to support construction schedules and operational needs.
* Prepare procurement reports, maintain records, and provide updates to the Corporate Procurement office.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Proven experience (minimum 3–5 years) in procurement within the construction or facilities sector.
* Proven expertise in Swiss public procurement procedures, Swiss Code of Obligation, SIA (Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects) standards and guidelines, and relevant cantonal and municipal regulations.
* Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
* Familiarity with construction contracts, supplier management, and procurement best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
* Fluency in English and French.
* Proficient in MS Office Suite. Procurement and ERP systems, a plus.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities while demonstrating the flexibility needed to adapt processes and solutions within a large and dynamic organization.
