About IMPACT
Created in 2010, IMPACT is a Geneva-based NGO and the largest independent data provider in crisis contexts. IMPACT aims to support a range of stakeholders in making better, more informed decisions in humanitarian, stabilization, and development settings. Through our team of assessment, data, geospatial, and thematic specialists, IMPACT promotes the design of people‑centred research and sets standards for collecting and analysing rigorous, high‑quality data in complex environments. Over the past 15 years, IMPACT has grown in size and geographic reach to become one of the largest humanitarian research agencies in the sector.

IMPACT’s teams implement assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and organisational capacity‑building programmes in direct partnership with aid actors. The team is composed of over 200 full‑time international experts as well as a roster of consultants, currently implementing 50 programmes in over 30 countries across Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Central and South‑East Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Position Overview
We are looking for an Analyst / Senior Analyst to lead cross‑cutting analysis and output production for the Syria mission. This 6‑month contract starts July 2026 and is based in Damascus, Syria.

Location: Damascus, Syria

Responsibilities

Analyzing research data: Understanding various datasets from IMPACT research cycles and secondary sources, situating findings within broader research and context produced by other agencies.

Program cycle management: Understanding key research cycles and managing parts of the cycle (design, collection, analysis) as needed to achieve analytical goals.

Building contextual understanding and stakeholder networks: Developing and maintaining a country‑level network to enhance understanding of the context and useful outputs, supporting joint analysis and staying updated on the Syrian context.

Drafting outputs and supporting dissemination: Producing relevant outputs for different audiences – factsheets, briefs, presentations – working with GIS and data colleagues to create compelling visuals.

Contributing to learning across the mission: Promoting capacity‑building across the Syria mission to deepen analytical capacities and leverage existing research.

Requirements

Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills: interpreting complex data and evaluating the quality of different data sources.

Academic qualifications: excellent academic qualifications; a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

Understanding of response systems: the HPC and inter‑agency needs assessment, engagement with clusters, donors, UN agencies, nexus programming (Durable Solutions), cross‑cutting issues such as climate and gender.

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills: identifying trends, contextualising findings, synthesising information into actionable insights for diverse humanitarian audiences.

Proficiency in quantitative analysis: experience with analytical software (R, STATA, Python, PowerBI, SPSS, etc.) and an understanding of basic GIS processes and outputs is an asset.

Strong writing skills: producing clear, concise outputs that combine text and visuals for maximum impact.

Delivering at pace: managing workflows and delivering high‑quality outputs under tight deadlines with shifting priorities.

Fluency in English required; fluency in Arabic also an asset.

Comfortable working in cross‑cultural environments; experience in capacity building around analysis an asset.

Resilience, sound judgment and emotional intelligence: working autonomously, proposing solutions, patience, and resilience in difficult situations.

Prior experience in Syria is a strong asset.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: 2 820 CHF to 2 880 CHF per month (before tax), plus a monthly living allowance of 300 USD.

Accommodation in a guesthouse and a stipend for food.

Enrolment in Swiss private pension fund (approx. 9.975 % of gross salary), health, life insurance and repatriation assistance.

Flight tickets every 6 months and visa fees covered; in‑country travel costs and professional expenses fully covered.

Rest and relaxation after 2–3 months (flight ticket up to 500 $ + 200 $ of living allowance) if duty station allows.

Luggage transportation contribution: 20–100 kg depending on contract length, with insurance.

Annual leave of 36 days per year + public holidays of the host country; family/compassionate leave when applicable.

Predeparture induction: 3 days at IMPACT HQ in Geneva and one week of pre‑departure training in ACTED HQ in Paris, including 4 days of in‑situ security training.

Psychological safety priority: health insurance covers up to 1 000 € per year for psychosocial counselling.
