About Our Client
Our client is an international specialty pharmaceutical organisation focused on developing, acquiring, and commercialising treatments. Headquartered in Switzerland, the business operates globally through a network of affiliates and partners, serving over 60 countries. We are looking for a senior legal & compliance professional with the relevant experience to join the team as soon as possible, try & hire opportunity in the Basel area.
Job Description
Drive the ongoing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's compliance framework, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and aligned with industry standards.
Provide expert guidance and training across the business to embed a strong culture of compliance, including regular effectiveness monitoring and reporting.
Review and approve contractual engagements and activities involving healthcare professionals, healthcare organisations, and patient organisations, ensuring full adherence to internal and external requirements.
Assess and validate promotional and non‑promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
Offer strategic advice on a broad range of compliance matters and recommend practical solutions to support business objectives while mitigating risk.
Lead and coordinate third‑party due diligence processes in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
Conduct investigations into reported or detected compliance issues, develop corrective action plans, and ensure appropriate follow‑through with cross‑functional teams.
Oversee data privacy matters, with support from specialised legal resources when needed, ensuring the organisation meets all relevant privacy and data protection obligations.
Deliver regular compliance updates to senior leadership and represent the compliance function in key governance and project committees.
The Successful Applicant
Master's degree in law and admission to a Swiss or European bar.
Minimum of ten years' experience as in‑house legal counsel within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector, ideally in a global environment.
At least five years of hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical compliance and a first experience in a leadership role would be beneficial.
Demonstrated project management capabilities with the ability to drive initiatives independently.
Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset combined with strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
High attention to detail, strong organisational abilities, and a pragmatic approach to complex issues.
Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with agility and flexibility.
Fully fluent in English, German is a strong plus
