Beschreibung

In a Nutshell

* We're hunting for an Engineering Manager who leads by example
* Minimum 3 years software engineering experience + 2 years leading technical teams - no exceptions
* You will build and lead a team of 8-12 engineers delivering mission-critical e-commerce systems
* You will report directly to our CTO

What's BÆRSkin Tactical Supply Co.?

We don't just make outdoor gear. We make all-weather wearable armour that allows everyone to survive the wild - no matter the conditions.

BÆRSkin Tactical Supply Co. is part of Div Brands - a global, remote-first e-commerce company that specializes in launching data‑driven D2C apparel brands. We are in a transition phase, evolving from Div Brands' multi‑brand approach to focus specifically on BÆRSkin's mission. You will be working for Div Brands/BÆRSkin as we make this strategic shift toward becoming the definitive brand for tactical outdoor gear.

Our customers are Men of Action - quality‑focused, no‑nonsense guys who've earned their stripes and demand gear Built for the Brave. They don't settle for mediocre, and neither do we. Every line of code we write, every feature we build, every pixel we place serves one purpose: delivering an experience worthy of our customers' standards.

We're a lean, focused team that believes in doing things right the first time. Like our gear, our tech stack is built to last and perform when it matters most.

What You'll Do

You will lead the squad that powers our digital experience - building and managing the team that keeps our systems mission-ready 24/7. This isn't about managing from an ivory tower. This is about rolling up your sleeves, clearing obstacles, and ensuring your team has what they need to deliver excellence.

Your mission:

* Build and lead a high‑performing engineering team of 8-12 developers
* Set technical direction and maintain code quality standards that match our brand promise
* Remove roadblocks and create the conditions for your team to do their best work - balance delivery velocity with sustainable engineering practices
* Mentor and develop engineers at all levels - from junior developers to senior contributors
* Drive technical initiatives across payments, integrations, search, AI, and core e‑commerce systems
* Own the technical hiring process - finding talent that fits our culture and standards
* Maintain hands‑on technical credibility while scaling your leadership impact

You will work directly with our CTO to shape the future of our engineering organization. If you're the type who leads by example, holds high standards, and knows how to get the best out of people, this is your command.

The Arsenal (Tech Stack)

* TypeScript across all codebases - because strong typing prevents weak code
* Multi‑cloud infrastructure with microservices and event‑driven architecture
* Node.js and Bun powering our backend microservices
* REST APIs for service communication
* Next.js (React) on the frontend

You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you need to understand enough to make informed decisions, review architecture, and speak the language of your team.

What's In It For You

The Practical Stuff:

* Fully remote work - because good code doesn't require a specific zip code
* Competitive salary with regular performance reviews
* 26 days paid leave (you'll have earned it)
* Parental leave when life happens
* Permanent full‑time position with 6‑month trial period

The Real Benefits:

* Work with a team that respects your expertise
* Build systems that matter to customers who care about quality
* Learn from seasoned professionals who've been in the trenches
* Career growth in a company that's built to last, not built to flip

What We're Looking For

The Non‑Negotiables:

* 3+ years hands‑on software engineering experience (TypeScript/Node/React preferred)
* 2+ years leading or managing technical teams
* Proven ability to build, grow, and retain engineering talent
* Strong organizational skills and structured approach to team management
* Go‑getter attitude with high ownership and independence
* Experience coaching and mentoring engineers at different career stages
* Track record in fast‑growing companies where you've scaled teams and systems

The Nice‑to‑Haves:

* E‑commerce or D2C experience
* Experience with remote‑first engineering teams
* Background in startups or high‑growth environments

What We're NOT Looking For

* Micromanagers who need to review every commit
* People who manage by spreadsheet instead of leading by example
* Leaders who've never written production code
* Anyone who thinks "that's not my job" when their team needs support

Ready to Apply?

Send us your CV and GitHub link - we want to see your code in action. No cover letter novels - your work speaks louder than words.

We'll get back to quality candidates quickly. Our process is straightforward but thorough: screening interview, technical conversations with our CTO, hands‑on coding challenges, and a final meeting. We'll test your abilities, but we also want to see how you think and leverage available tools - including AI and other resources - to work smarter, not just harder. Expect 3-6 weeks from application to decision.

FAQ

How long is the contract?

Full‑time permanent position with a 6‑month trial period. We're looking for long‑term team members, not short‑term contractors.

What's the interview process like?

First Interview with CTO → Technical chat with CTO → Technical chat with CTO (again) → Final meeting. We'll test both your technical skills and your ability to use modern tools effectively. We keep it focused - just like our code.

Will I get feedback if not selected?

We provide feedback to candidates who make it past the initial screening. For early‑stage applications, we unfortunately can't provide individual feedback.

Do you work with recruiters?

No. We handle our own hiring. Please don't contact us with recruiting services.
