Your responsibilities
The BE-CEM-MTA section provides turn-key solutions for test, measurement, and analysis projects. Our tools mainly revolve around offerings from NI (LabVIEW, PXI, cRIO). We implement applications and systems built using a selected set of National Instruments and Alliance Members' products. We provide CERN-wide LabVIEW support and support a framework for Rapid Application Development (RADE) based on LabVIEW.
Within the BE-CEM group, there are several critical test benches for the LHC Collimators and Beam intersecting devices that need maintenance and upgrades for HiLumi installations. The team also works on critical test and validation systems for future projects such as SamBuCa and DI/OT.
As a Junior Software Engineer in the team, your tasks will include:
1. Upgrading and maintaining validation test benches and hardware.
2. Designing and extending test hardware platforms and environments.
3. Designing individual test steps for various boards.
4. Designing test-bench hardware.
5. Integrating results into a database.
6. Documenting and supporting the platform and tests.
Your profile
Skills
* Good knowledge of LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT, and FPGA.
* Good knowledge of Python; knowledge of pytest is a bonus.
* Comfortable with Linux and its command-line interface.
* Ability to develop well-engineered solutions.
* Ability to communicate and understand client requirements.
* Documenting progress, development, implementation, and challenges.
* Willing to seek help and collaborate with the team.
* Ability to work autonomously when needed.
* Proficiency in spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learning the basics of the other language.
By the application deadline, you should have:
* Maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software Engineering or a related field.
* Highest educational qualification of either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
* No university degree applicants are eligible.
* No PhD holders are eligible.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months.
